Steve Bedwell speaks about Bob Kohler's bill in lemon. Does someone have some info to share? Is this somewhere in print? Thanks in advance. |

Not in print - probably won't be. I'm sure it's diabolical, however. I know Bob has several versions, and I'm not sure which one Steve saw . . .

Bob probably has 30 versions of bill in lemon..I know, because I've seen most of them.
None of his methods are in print, but there is something coming down the pipe in the next month or two that you will want to look for...

If Bob does it then it's probably the best there is. I've heard talk of it and never seen him perform it, but I know from his history that it must be good.
Basically, Bob does a lot of stuff you guys will never see in print... and that includes me. We can only hope that one day he decides to collect antiques and gives up all of his beautiful ideas. Greg

Michael Close hyped the Bill in Lemon that Bob does in his cover story he did for MAGIC Magazine last year. His description of the most current method is impressive to read. He quotes Bob as saying that he had 30 some methods at one point, 18 of which are pretty good.
He dropped a vague hint that it may see print some day, but I wouldn't blame him for keeping it under his belt. |

Thanks for the replies but a bit disappointed that there's nothing in print. Boo hoo!
Corpmagi, could you tell us a little bit more about this expected new release. |

Hi Guys,
Seems like a good time to let you all have a peek behind the curtain. There's good news and bad news. The bad news is I'm not going to release my final version. The reason is that very few would be comfortable with my method. Steve Bedwell and Benjamin Levy are the only two magicians I've taught the method to that really use it. The description in Magic is accurate. The good news is I will be releasing a version of the classic Bill In Lemon that meets all of the conditions in my routine. It's Scott Alexander's routine. I believe it's the best solution ever devised for this classic. In fact, there's one added condition Scott has implemented that really throws Scott's solution over the top. It's much easier to do than mine. His solution is not a knucklebuster, Scott's incredible gaff does it all. Thomas Wayne is manufacturing the gaffs. As usual, Thomas has figured out the touches on the gaff that make it the final solution. Scott Alexander and I have been working together on many new releases. His first release will be a two DVD set titled "Vegas After Dark." It's currently at the duplicator and will be on my web site at http://www.bobkohler.com in one week. They will be distributed worldwide through Murphy's Magic Supplies. Scott's style is very entertaining. He's been a huge secret because he's a worker. Cruise ships, Caesar's Magical Empire and now his own show at Fitzgerald's Casino here in Vegas. Scott and I will be releasing four standup routines through my site and a new high end exlusive dealer network. These products are being released for professional use. They will be expensive for amateurs but gold nuggets for pros. Each release will contain an incredible gaff, all of the handling and Scott's presentation. The first release will be the Bill In Lemon. We're still working on a final title so the name is going to change. Scott's version happens under test conditions. To whet your appetite consider this...the lemon is inside of a sealed zip lock bag which is inside of a stapled paper bag. This is under the control of a spectator BEFORE the bill is signed. At the end of the routine Scott NEVER touches the lemon. And get this, the spectator can cut the lemon open. This isn't hype, it's just the facts. If that's not enough, Scott's method will work on stage, parlor and close up. It's also totally adaptable to use in virtually ANY routine. You can burn up envelopes, use the Lemon Game, produce lemons as loads for the Cups and Balls, leave the lemons on top of the cups, then vanish the bill have the spectators pick a lemon and the bill's inside. It's by far the most versatile solution you'll ever need. This is BIG for pros. Many times you have no idea what the working conditions will be for your show. With Scott's solution it doesn't matter, you can always do the routine. He's been performing the routine with this method for a few years and the list of top pros who've been fooled badly is long. Laymen have absolutely no shot at figuring this truly diabolical method out! We've beta tested the final gaff with a couple of top pros and their reaction is simple. This routine is now their closer. When the training DVD is finished and pricing is finalized I'll publish a full detailed description on my web site and on the sites of our Pro Line dealers around the world. It will ship in 4-6 weeks. |

Well, that is great that you are producing a someone elses idea. But I believe this sting wanted to know when you will producing your Bob Kohler's 30 odd version of the 'Bill in Lemon', perferably in book form.
Being from the old school, DVD are great to see how the effect will look from the spectators view, but for learning, the written word is best. Of course the 2 different medias' must match. I do not know, but I am sure as other Kohler's items it will be priced to keep it out of the hands of the novice. The only problem I have with the bill in Lemon, there has never been a good story line to go with the reason that a bill would be found in a lemon. Yes, in the end the audience only remembers finding the bill, but as a performer the journey is as important as the method. |

Aha...but with "The Lemon Game", there IS a purpose and reason (albeit a little humorous) for the lemon, and for the bill to end up there.

Greetings,
After a long conversation with Bob this morning, Hocus Pocus Magic will be one of the exclusive dealers of this effect. All I can say is that it's going to be an astounding effect! You are going to absolutely fry any audience watching this routine. This method will be impossible for ANY one to figure out -- it's that good! The more Bob talked about this effect, the more I smiled and laughed -- it's pure genius! I cannot wait for this to hit the market. It's going on my wishlist!

But why would you want to spend $300 for the 'Lemon Game" and $300 to use the Kohler method? (just guessing at the Kohler price)
You cannot perform the 'Lemon Game' routine without purchasing it. (A rights issue) |

$600.00 for a professional routine with a sensational method? Sounds like a bargain to me if you use it.

Sorry, I put the wrong link to my site...it's http://www.bobkohlermagic.com.
The Bill In Lemon info. won't be up for a couple of weeks. I'm not going to put my routine out. With Scott's solution there's no need. It solves every aspect of the test conditions of mine, and it's both easier to do plus it's more practical. We will include Scott's presentation. More later... |

If everyone wants Kohler's trick, but you want everyone to buy someone else's trick. Well, doesn't make sense to me.
Isn't that like I want an Owen's trick, but here is the Mak-Magic version. Maybe if we had an autobiography of Scott and Bob, and let us compare and make up our own minds. Can this be used for the card in Orange? To many versions of the same trick on the market already. |

From what I just read in this thread, not many people want Kohler's trick - because not many people have ever seen it or know of it.
From what Bob just wrote, it appears that he believes Scott's method meets all the test conditions of his personal routine, but it is easier method, thus more marketable, thus his recommendation for something that will be avialable over something that will never be avialable. It seems to make sense to me. What doesn't make sense to me is how a lemon sealed in two bags before the bill is signed, the magician does not touch the lemon, and the spectator can take the lemon out of the bags, cut it open, and find the signed bill. To not use any lemon switch, or to touch the lemon, and to allow the spectator to cut it... This method sounds impossible. I would love to see it! |

It's a brilliant idea and I'll bet these are going to sell like hotcakes. Hey Bob, is Scott including the variation I shared with you that changes the "moment?"
