I'm not addressing "they".
Just asking what common ground "you" would like to build upon.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

The commoners from the common ground are given by the elite a violent culture, that is the mind-set, to let off steam, so that they don’t revolt against the elite. The Roman elites built the Colosseum, the arenas for that purpose and likewise elites of today built the sports stadiums. The common people watch and identify with their team and feel like they have won or lost a battle, which gives them some meaning to their meaningless lives. Shakespeare has King Henry IV reflected on the reasons for invading the Holy Land, namely to distract people from domestic civil war and to “march all one way” under his banner (1597). This then is the common ground "you" wouldn’t like to build upon but it is the grounds for violence as they say.

In all these discussions about guns, of which there have been dozens here, I have yet to see anybody come up with anything helpful at all to prevent these shooters from committing mass murders.

Universal healthcare.
Cut the military by 80%.
Universal guaranteed income.
Strong unions.
Well-funded public education.
Organic food.
Prison reform.
Justice reform.
Tax reform.
Strong anti-trust laws.
End the support of foreign dictators.
Housing reform.
Banking reform.

It's a package.

The shootings are the symptoms of a system in crisis.

Well Landmark,
it's clear to see where your psuedo comes from(!).
You have a solid position!

I think changes,
positive changes, need not be sö drastic,
or difficult to impliment.

I would simply like to see a State say,
"Stricter gun controlls, by us."
And be allowed to enforce them.
e.i.: The Federal Government stays out.

I would like to see 'other models' allowed to 'try'.

I believe there IS a problem.
We are ALL unsure of 'an answer'.
I would like to see 'leaders', 'thinkers' be allowed to try change.
State-level,...democratically.

Never let a crisis go to waste eh. The Global Elite are like that except first they create the crisis in the system in order to reform it to their liking - on notion that the blacksmith heats the metal before putting it on his anvil and striking it with his hammer to shape it, reform it, into what wants: ORDO AB CHAO = Order Out of Chaos. The Global Elite have clubs, such as the Club of Rome, which come up with crisis creation ideas, either real or imagined. The system in crisis is thus essentially by their design. The Global Elite ultimately want a Technocracy, wherein their experts tell the commoners what they can or cannot do. A world where we the people must only believe in the science they give out and the state, so that in effect the state becomes God. The Global Elite own big business, including the entertainment industry, so when things like these shooting happen they can exaggerate it out all proportion. By scare tactics they can get people calling for more and more control by experts and rulers and so on. Are these events being exaggerated by the mass media? Well yes, of course they are for they never let a crises go to waste. It may not be Clockwork Orange or IF but it can be made to seem so when you have the power. Are you calling for some sort of Technocracy?

If you're asking me, no, I'm not asking for a technocracy at all.

I'm calling for a way to end the influence and power of the group you call The Global Elite. Marx had another name for them, one that allows a way to begin to fight them. I don't agree with him about how that fight should happen, but there's no doubt in my mind he identified the problem spectacularly precisely.

Doing things at state level is fine.

But the idea that a socialist utopia will stop all the problems is laughable.

All of the measures I mentioned above are presently in existence in some form in one or another country. None are Utopian. In fact most of them are achievable even under capitalism. They are practical measures, implemented in practical ways with practical results.

Denmark is not Brazil.

Russia is not Argentina.

Norway is not Nigeria.

Germany is not the USA.

Location matters, even though I have been called narrow-minded and hypocritical for pointing it out.

Jack's list is flawed because while some of the things could be implemented in some places, not all of them could be implemented is all places. A universal, one-size-fits-all solution does not exist.

All of the things on Landmark's list COULD be implemented here if we took away the ability to buy the law(s) you want, by buying and owning the lawmakers, were taken away.

His last point about the shootings being a symptom is unassailable.
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

Unassailable? Hardly.

I wonder how many of the shooters decided to kill lots of people because of 'weak anti trust laws' or 'US support of foreign dictators'? I'll bet the rich Vegas shooter was particularly mad about the lack of "Universal guaranteed income" and "Organic food". I'd vote in Landmarks post for comedy post of the year if it wasn't so depressingly stupid.

I will admit that at least one shooter was upset and possibly triggered by landmark's list. The equally leftist Capital Hill shooter.

I actually thought Landmarks post (Universal everything etc.) was a joke. Please tell me it was a joke?

Adressing NYCTwister's first
and Landmark's last:

"You never change the existing reality by
fighting it. Instead, create a new model that
makes the old one obsolete."
R. Buckminster Fuller

I'll appenge Buckminster here, by adding:
"We,.."

'We' have to be 'the change'.

I'm with you.
Gallagher

p.s.: I start every Show now,
opening my vest,..
"No weapons. Do we need them?"
,,..then on into the Show.
,...funny side-note: my drops are UP!

We're 'the change'.
We have to show,...live a difference.
We, with the visions,
must begin living them.

It's NOT 'the others' at fault.
Our visions must come from our heads,
into our hands and feet.

We've talked about it enough,
let's go out and do it. ✊🏼

And, while nothing is being done......

This one won't even last two news cycles, since only five are dead.

I wonder how many have to die before the fake tough guys are sick of hearing their own excuses.

Location matters, but it is not the determining variable. No one is suggesting one size fits all. As a general rule, good ideas of any kind can often be adapted to local conditions. For example, universal healthcare plays out in a variety of ways throughout the industrialized world.
