And if nothing sticks to teflon, how do they get teflon to stick to the pot.

I know those were probably all rhetorical (and where would the world be without rhetorical questions?), but because I'm in one of those moods:
Superglue doesn't stick to the brush or container because it must be exposed to the air to cure; when it's tightly closed in the container, it doesn't have the air it needs to cure, and thus doesn't dry. Leave the container open for a while, and then try using it! As to Teflon, I'll quote the answer from http://home.nycap.rr.com/useless/teflon: Quote:
Originally it didn't stick well - you had to use special utensils or the Teflon would chip off. And now you know!

We are familiar with the speed of light, but what is the speed of dark? cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

Now that is a real poser Peter! I believe that the speed of DARK as measured in vacuum is exactly -299,792,458 m/s (meters per second). I guess we could round that to an even –300,000,000 m/s for the sake of conservation.

The speed of dark will be the same as the speed of light. The light can only leave at its speed to cause dark. 300x10^8 m/s as mumblepeas mentions.

[readjusting his "smartaleck geek" hat]
Initially, I was going to say that dark is the lack of light, so it doesn't have a speed. I was going to go into a long, drawn out, and not entirely accurate metaphor here, but I'll spare you that and leave it as simply saying that dark doesn't have a speed. I was going to say that, because it makes sense. However, I found this at http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/jeremy/darksp.html, which I'll let speak for itself Quote:
Dividing the distance travelled by the observed time lag, the deduced speed is 98.9 +/- 0.3 m/s. Thoughtful readers will have realised already that this is not actually the speed of light, per se, but the speed of dark, as the observations were made of the time lag between turning the laser off and observing the arrival of the dark at the front wall. (No, I don't understand most of that, either I still don't see how it can be viewed as the speed of dark, since dark doesn't exist, and it's merely measuring the time it took the light to travel from the wall to the eye, as measured by the delay from the moment it was turned off to the moment the lack of light was perceived, but considering that there's a better chance of H*** freezing over and Satan giving out free sleigh rides than my understanding those equations, I'm going to go to bed! For those who prefer a contrary theory, though, check out The Dark Sucker Theory Finally, for a totally off the wall answer, "The Speed of Dark" is (well, was) the name of the 1998 tour of an apparently obscure goth band called P. Vampire. And you're probably sorry you asked

I drove to a gig today and the last part of the journey was down a little narrow country lane. (Ah beautiful Somerset!!!)
The road was a bit rough and at about every half mile there was a sign on a pole cemented into the ground that stated 'WARNING - POTHOLES' Now what I wondered was this. Why didn't the man who put up the signs just fill the potholes instead???

I've always wondered this: When a nudist gets out of his car, where does he put his keys?
PS: Andy, I actually managed to understand that formula right up to "hbar." From that point on it was gibberish to me. Now, I speak gibberish fluently, but have trouble understanding it. |

When visiting London a 'must do' experience is a trip on the Underground system.
When the trains arrive at certain stations a voice tells you to "mind the gap". Why don't they just fill it in???

How come some pizza parlors have a medium and a large pizza, but no small? You can't have that... you can have a regular and a large, and a regular and a small, but not a medium and a large!!! I had to get that off my chest! Whoops... Domino's just rang my bell. See ya!

You buy a product that you regularly purchase but this time the label says "new and improved".
Does this mean that everything you bought before was "old and c***"? cheers, Peter Marucci showtimecol@aol.com |

"I am" is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that "I do" is the longest sentence?
If you mixed vodka with orange juice and milk of magnesia, would you get a Philip's Screwdriver? If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled? If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? When someone asks you, "A penny for your thoughts," and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny? Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker? Why are a wise man and a wise guy opposites? If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons debarked and dry cleaners depressed? Do Roman paramedics refer to IV's as "4's"? Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways? Why is it that if someone tells you that there are one billion stars in the universe you will believe them, but if they tell you a wall has wet paint you will have to touch it to be sure? And lastly: How many of you believe in telekinesis? Raise my hands....

Is the sign "Wet Paint", an instruction or a warning?
If I bought de-hydrated water what would I add? |
