This is a brand new release by Paul Carnazzo. Here's the description:
(up to four participants can be used) A participant mentally selects a word (or up to four words) from a group of words related to personality characteristics. They are asked to visualize this word, and to put themselves in an emotional state based on it. With no questions, the mentalist begins to describe how the participant is feeling, what they are visualizing, and ultimately reveals the exact word they are thinking of! Emotive can be performed as a demonstration of mind reading, body language reading, micro expression analysis, or wherever your imagination leads you. · All of the words are different · No Binary Principle · No Fishing · No Progressive Anagrams · Instantly Repeatable · Up to four participants can be used (or multiple words can be selected by one participant) Includes four cards and downloadable instructions. The four cards are very nicely made of 100% plastic. They are square which makes it feel like a test item or something from a game rather than a card trick. They will last a lifetime with proper care. If you like the sound of the effect, you will like this. There are 4 cards. Each card has 4 different words on it (one on every edge of the card.) All of the words are different. The spectator chooses any card they want, spins it around, looks at the word closes to them, and you can immediately tell them their word. I must admit, this is trick is a little difficult to do. There's a lot of mental gymnastics on the part of the performer. It really takes a lot of playing with the cards to fully understand how they operate. I highly suggest getting a friend or partner to just keep thinking of different words and you figure them out. Before too long, you'll understand how the system works. It makes a lot more sense with the cards in hand than just reading it on paper. I must admit, I struggled to understand the workings when reading the ebook. After 10 minutes of playing with the cards, I got it down. The method is very good. It's creative and allows you to know what word they looked at with absolutely no questions asked. There's one part of the method using the corners (those of you that have this will understand) which I actually struggle with quite a bit. When I examine the card, I don't see what I'm supposed to see. Here's a tip I discovered while playing with it: trust your gut. It sounds crazy, but your brain knows when something is off and even though you can't really tell it, if you trust your gut, you'll get it right. Once I started relying on which one FELT right rather than judging each individually, I got it right every time. Sorry, I know that was a but cryptic for those that don't own it. I really like this. I don't know if I'll add it to my wallet since there are 4 cards, but the trick itself is very effective. I tried it on my girlfriend and she was getting so annoyed that she couldn't figure out how I knew what word she chose EVERY time. This is good stuff. It will fool anyone--even the seasoned pros. If you like the sound of the routine and are willing to put in a little bit of work, then you'll love this. It is practical and a real worker (like all of Paul's releases.) Hi Madison,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I hope you get a lot of use out of Emotive. Just to clarify, the cards supplied with Emotive are NOT plastic, but cardstock. Thanks again! PC |

Having been a fan of Paul's for many years and watching his creative evolution, I just wanted to add my thoughts to his new release Emotive.
As with all of his pocket mentalism effects, this is extremely well thought out and I would say next to impossible to reverse engineer. For those who like to give personality readings, this is ideal. However, as a professional actor I find that this falls right into my market. As I am often asked about what it takes to be an actor, these 4 cards work perfectly.By asking the participant to write the name of their favorite actor (which I peek with my PAC stack) I then ask the person to choose one of the emotions on the card and try to imagine how that actor would display it with subtle body language. (BTW, I ask them to write it down, simply so I can verify it later). After some byplay, I can name the emotion and the actor, at the same time complimenting the participant on their subtle performance and suggesting that they should consider an acting career. Due to how well hidden the clues are on the cards, this will take a little practice, however the end result is quite stunning and well worth the effort. Mr.Carnazzo does it again and I look forward to more creative productions from this excellent thinker.Bravo! Gerry Hennessey (PEA member)
