I was involved,
and read; a little discusion, a few forums lower in: 'Not Very Magical, Still'. A discusion about guns and violence, in our society. The discusion is based, in the U.S. society, but the 'feeling' is quite universal. This feeling of 'power',..abuse of power,..weapons. The discusion was initiated and led by a Street Performer, out of NyC, and supported by another ny boy,...close to the Streets. Both,..close to the Streets. Both taking on, ''comforatably situated.....'head in the clouders' "..(?). Galiantly,.and Logically. 👏. 👍 👍 💋 At the end of the dance, however, when lines and sides had been drawn,.. dust flew, air was punched, broncos kicked up their heels(!), ....everybody sat, ..in resignation: "WHAT can be done?" What has to BE done,..FOR us?,..!". ,..as though BIG things have to change. 'Winds of change'. A 'burning bush' should speak to us,.. At the very least,. a government leader. ,...someone we can throw stones at, along the way, as well. . . . . . . . . . . . *. . . . . . . . . . . . ! . . . . ö For the past month now, since the Las Vegas shootings; I start each Show, by opening my vest and saying: "Nö weapons. Do we need them?" I look everybody in the eye, then go into my opening song. If anybody is there,... or not. Every Show. For the past three days, I've been struggling it out, in Kassel. ,..a pitch not to be confused with Fisherman's Warf. Hard audience. A Babylon of sorts,.. foreign languages of confusion,.. foreign faces of hope and dispair,.. Basically,..'foreign'. A bit on 'the edge'. My last Shows, I've been playing a part of towne officially known, as, 'der Stern'. Un-officially, amongst Germans: 'little Istanbul'. ,..amongst settled Turks: 'little Istan-bullsh*t'. It's a rough area. But,...pedestrian-zone,... and, the best lamb koteletts in,..(?,) ...i haven't tasted everybody's. Today, after my last Show, I went into Tat-Urfa,.. wood burning grill,..right in the middle of the room,.(!) Domed oven, for baking bread,...right next to the first. As I walked in, two guys at the counter, turned, smiled, ..and opened their jackets(!). "Keine Gewehr." ,..smiles. I sat down. The waiter came, smiled,. opened his jacket,.. "Keine Gewehr." smile. Monika showed up. We ate, enjoyed,.. warmed our soles (feet!). While eating, two 'peddelers of 10€ cell-phones', stopped at our table: Jackets open. "Keine..." Smiles. . . . . . . . . .*. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . We, as Street Performers, stand on a Stage that holds a power and respect, ..where it counts(!). An oracle, to an Audience, that counts. An Audience that is capable of change. Our Audiences ARE capable of change. The simple images that WE, as Performers, present; have weight. I always saw us, as 'entertainers in a storm', but we can be more. We ARE more. ,..and sö simple. I wish us all well, gallagher p.s.: My daughter sent me this clip, a concert she attended, earlier in the year. An old bard himself, played a handfull of small halls.. at 81,.. the first song IS 'the kiss'. https://youtu.be/TO5qCsYAOEs "..the things we complain about, are things we could be changing." He is singing to US. |

One of the many things I love about street busking is I look in to the crowd and I see the wealthy, the educated, young, old, people from other lands, people with different spiritual journeys, people experiencing real hard times and all the other types. You see them all standing side by side each of them smile and laugh as the two sponge balls end up in one hand. And every one leaves my show with a little lighter hart then they started. What a gift we have!
A busker I know in Covent Garden London was busking the day after a attack happened where a police officer got killed and many were injured. He would address his crowd 'look we are in crazy times but lets not fear, hold the hand of the stranger next to you, or just look and smile at the person next to you. We have got this and we can all ways have this' He said it just came to him and he did it for a few days. People would hug him at the end he had people cry. He also said people would just hang talking to the stranger next to them after the show for a few moments. A police officer said to him what your doing is amazing and my friend said these streets have been good to me and know they need a little help. Gold as always gallagher!

Nala,...shouldn't you be out shoveling coal! (* alan thomas earned his first 'peso' shoveling coal, at $0.50 a ton! ,..this explains 'the back!) Have a good one Nala. ,..spring's coming! Hah!! my (powerful) one word post even got a like!
Kris K. has always been a favorite of mine! Yes Gallagher , .50 cents a ton! and now our pitch is only 75 yards (50 meters) from the Coal car loading dock. so happy when they tore it down. But the connection is still there, as 125+ Coal cars that interrupt our sets attest to! yes, thanks Custard and Gallagher to folks like you who have something to really say, and say it well. Nala |

Yep the better weather is coming. A little windy this time of year, and spots of heavy rain which are unusual but very welcome. A few event coming up with busking like movies in the park and mid December tourism gose nut as well as pretty much the whole of new Zealand kick back for a few weeks. So cleaning up the rig and get rid to hit the bricks hard!
Ill post up photos of sun shine to keep you all warm and hope to give you some ideas to work over the winter.
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |
