Hi!
Juat curious.. how do you guys deal with duplicate cards? I do some effects requiring dupes and what I do is lay aside cards from worn out decks. At one of my recent gigs I actually messed up because of this. I simply added two cards on top of the deck before going into the effect (TnR transpo by D Williamson). I somehow managed to produce the actual third dupe when I was ment to produce an indifferent card.. Would you go through the deck before-hand and remove the original card and simply use the same specific card at the entire gig? Do you buy new one-way decks and use them? Have a great day! |

I purchase by the dozen at Costco and never throw away a deck. I do lots of signed card routines. Before every gig, I build a complete deck and then bring spare cards. I add a spare, and force for selection and signature. That card becomes a gift for the audience. Then I will just add another when moving to the next group.

Thanks Hudson, but my problem is that my routine requires me to ruin two cards each time I do the effect. And every once in a while these actually matches one of the supposed indifferent cards in the deck which ruins the trick.
For example; So I'll take thia card, I'm guessing it's not yours? And I just give it a shake and it changes to your card! |

Depends on your performing environment, but for Williamson's TnR Transpo, I would have deck preset with the force cards on top (if you do the trick via the original method) with no duplicates in the deck. The reset is then adding the two (or three if you remove the creases) cards to the top at the end of the set. Since I can usually feel the difference when card comes from another deck, I sometimes hold out the original card that serves as the dupe so that the deck is still has all the original cards if I put it back in.

Thank you!
So you simply buy a one way force deck and add from that? This way it seems easier to keep track. |

Understand.
Depends on the performing environment, but I would remove the duplicate cards so you don't risk the exposure. For example, when I do Anniversary Waltz, I do remove the two cards the couple will sign. Hudson |

I do a routine that allows one free selection and one F@rce. I bought a one way f@rcing deck to replace the one card, and a second deck to replace the free selection. If the fre selection is one that been selected before, I will run a few cards short.,..nobody notices a deck that is 3-4 or more cards short,

Yeah Montana I use Williamson tnr on a normal basis as a part of my repitoir. I buy a one way deck. But if it's something that I'll be performing a lot through an evening I have to bring what I think is enough sets of dupes. I keep them in my top coat front pocket. As a reset I pull out two dupes and place them in my pocket. While the spectator is shuffling I palm the cards from my pocket and add them while turning the deck face up to spread the cards. I then cull the 3rd dupe to the top. That way there are three of the same cards.
I'd do the trick per norm then finish with the bent card being restored. There are two schools of thought on this, some say the spectator should get the souvenir and others say it doesn't matter. If you'd like the spectator to keep the card, just keep a single dupe in your pocket. And do the above anyway. You're going to go through do many decks you tend to stop caring if you have a full deck or not. If you're worried about it just bring a second deck in your back pocket. The truth is no spectator really cares if you're using 52 cards or not |

But if I'm out busking where I know most people won't watch the show twice I use the cards from the one way
