Hey fellow dabblers and pros. I recently purchased a Thread Boss from the local brick and mortar because I'd like to start playing around and learning this art. I read the documentation that came with it and it's quite vague as far as explaining any routines. The most in depth is also the simplest, The Floating Dollar. I've been looking around online for some routine videos, but again, it seems like all I can find is people floating a dollar around. Does anyone have any favorite routines with a video or photo reference that I can check out to get some inspiration? I'm brand spanking new to ITRs and have no real teacher. So any inspiration or guidance would be much appreciated! My favorite style is comedic but macabre if that helps at all. Thanks

Https://www.emagicsupply.com/ The best place to start. His Master Levitation System is a fantastic starter.

Wonderful! Thank you for the links Poof-Daddy. Much much appreciated. I was playing around last night with the floating dollar (actually pretty fun) and I broke the thread so many times. I guess that is to be expected in the beginning. Luckily I'm finally old enough to have patience and understand that practice does indeed work! So I didn't get too frustrated. But geez, the beginning is frustrating isn't it?

Really, for the serious IT and IET worker, Https://www.emagicsupply.com/ is the best place. Also, IT is not just for floating things! Does that "ring a bell?" I won't say more than that. I will say that IT is useful for mentalism and remotely triggering "things". The thing I HATE about ITRs is, you are LOCKED to the thing! Thread breaks, ya DONE! No. I keep several lengths of ready to go Vectra. I also have a length or two of blue woolley and a length of X2. That's show-ready, which has been a while. I stopped performing when I came to Augusta. Now it's mainly research.

Doug, thank you. Yes that Rings a Bell! That's the kind of inspiration I'm looking for. Mentalism, "thing" triggers, etc. Floating things is fun and all, but other things that don't make people immediately think theres some kind of string attached, so to speak, are the effects that I want to start working toward. Thank you for the inspiration.
That being said, I successfully floated a napkin at dinner with my family last night when they weren't expecting it. Mom-in-law spit some food out. It was hilarious. |

I love Michael Ammar's "Easy To Master Thread Miracles" DVD set which I have had and used for a long time now. I also have a lot of old pamphlets and books around on the subject. Another DVD set "Who's Afraid of Invisible thread" and the book "Thread Reference" is also great. I have many others in storage somewhere and forget all the names. But the DVD set is a very good comprehensive type set on thread work. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/87 Out of stick as a set but available individually on Penguin.
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini
