I didn't "literally" hear anything, but my brain sort of went "thump".
It surprises me, though, that the scientists feel stumped. In linguistics, this is a well-known phenomenon called the "McGurk Effect." Basically, your brain plays a role in what you "hear." Not hard to explain at all, since the brain is processing all of your senses. |

Kinda what Jeff said.
I don't "literally" hear anything but every time the pylon lands I 'hear' a 'thump' in my head. It kinda feels like I'm hearing it and I can't watch the gif and not 'hear' it. The "McGurk Effect" that Jeff describes is pretty fascinating. Here's a video that demonstrates it and it's pretty wild. |
