You really did a great job on your Haunted box Kike! It really looks like a very old spooky box! All you'll need now is a Bicycle Vintage 1800 deck... Congrats!

Hey All -
Murphy's has been getting a TON of calls on this one. We are currently out but will be receiving more in about another week. Because these are all hand made it takes a bit of time in between orders for product to arrive. Peace, P |

It is very good much better than I was expecting.
There is not much to say it does exactly what is shown and very well, you even get a red and blue gimmick ready made which are great and a spare gimmick to make your own custom one if desired.

My red and blue gimmicks sucked. I mean really sucked. So poorly made that I would not use them as it is obvious that there was an alteration made. Luckily a spare gimmick is included that allows you to customize it yourself, so I will use that and make my own using a phoenix card.

My girlfriend offered me the Haunted Box (deluxe version) for Christmas, because she knows I am a huge fan of Joao product line, which never disappoints.
Once I got the box and watched the online instructions I was blown away with the method and how well every gimmick is constructed. A lot, and I mean a LOT of thought has been given to the trick. What I like about this is that the trick is self working (no remotes to think about) which allows the magician to be turned away when the magic happens, which makes the whole trick much stronger in my opinion. Also any magician without any skill level (like me) can perform the trick and get amazing reactions ☺ I did it 4 times to my girlfriend and then to her parents the next day, and they freaked out and were totally clueless. I even gave the box for examination (not that they wanted to) and they didn't found anything suspicious about it. Love it! |

The way the chains attach to the box didn't draw suspicion? Interesting

I agree with Simon that Kiketron's box is so cool and spooky looking after he made his changes. Such a beautiful creation! Now, as far as the box I ordered the limited edition because it was the only one available at the time and won't receive it to be able to give a thorough review until late this week after the holiday. Let you guys know when I receive it and start playing around with it and my thoughts. Did you receive yours yet Simon? I was looking for some more reviews after I felt more folks have received them, but not as much as I thought.

In a way, as far as the product is concerned, seems like they are taking care in making them and sending them out to customer's. Very good and attention to detail. I am jealous though because I wish I received a product as Kiketron made for himself because it is so excellent!

I also agree with Simon that these 1800 Bicycle cards are a really good addition to the trick. I will definitely purchase some of them also. Thanks for the inpuut Simon!

Really admire the custom work kiketron did on his haunted box. Just wondering... did you need to dis-assemble it to stain it? Would it be possible to remove and attach new clasp hardware without affecting the operation of the box? Appreciate your thoughts!

Although I like the box trick, I always find it expensive for a "one trick" performance. I understand they supply several routines, but once the same audience have seen the box close automatically it's not gonna impress them a second time. I remember seeing a similar trick but with a sliding lid many many years ago. The problem that had, was the noise of the motor, so building up this eerie story of spirits were quashed when the modern sound of a motor whirled in to action!
However, the reason for this post was that I used a similar box with a drop lid back in 1992 that closed automatically, suffice to say, InvisiThread! I think you get my meaning! I performed it with Tarot cards but did the same effect. I still have this somewhere so will try and make a vid on my phone. The only difference was I could not look the other was. It still amazed spectators, AND the box could be fully examined. |

I think its impossible because the thread would need to run across the box in their direction. At least its not practical for the real world, but haunted box is really a worker because the magician has no threads to worry about, and best of all, can be really far and the magic still happens. AND the fact that the magician is not looking sells the whole effect that this really is real magic, and that is another positive thing I love about haunted box. So allow me to disagree, this box with electronics is essential for a smooth AND amazing performance. This is the type of trick where you can´t really say that electronics are useless, sorry. |
