Hey folks!

I am looking to add some material to my nightclub act. I currently do about thirty minutes, which is great when you are part of a larger show, but I want to develop a stand-alone act of about one hour.

I am looking for ideas from the entertainment-minded thinkers out there! What effects would you suggest? As a bonus, if you have something for sale, I might consider a purchase!

My character is sort of a goofy, smart-alecky magician...not too smart-alecky though.

My current show: 1)Bill Abbot's Five Card Opener (with a Michael Finney twist), 2)Three Ropes and a Thousand Laughs, 3)Vanishing Bandana, 4)Mind Reading Orange, and 5)Wayne's Exhange (a sexy mind-reading effect).

I am thinking about replacing Wayne's exchange. I don't my show to be too sexual or dirty...and that effect can tend to go south quickly.

My only other requirement: I want to carry my entire show in my briefcase.

I also have a running gag throughout the act with a giant pair of underwear.

Razor blade swallowing
Vanishing bottle
Celebrity Smart Ass
Balloon Swallowing
Growing Head Illusion

If you haven't done so already, you could also expand your act with a nice professionally recorded voice-over intro and use music cues in between effects.

UPDATE: I have added Cody's Comedy Book Test (to replace Wayne's Exchange), as well as Grave Mistake and the Mis-Made Flag.

Have now also added the Suitjacket Escape.

I forget the name, but the torn and restored newspaper with the large marker is very good. I have done it with a small torn piece that falls to the floor and the restored paper has the matching hole. The nice thing about this one is you can write on the newspaper during performance, and hand out the restored newspaper at the end. If someone else doesn't chime in with the name and you are interested, I'll search the name.

I do a bank-night style effect similar to John Archer, but with "valuable" coupons. It is done with a completely different method, premise, and scripting, and it will be going into my Bullseye Magic Journal if you are interested.
