Ivery had the pleasure of working 40 plus hours at a restaurant the last couple weeks, as a waiter that does magic. I do turbo stick to spongeballs if we're slow. The kids love it and so do the adults. I'm just now perfecting the blocking for the steals. I've also learned to incorporate certain poses and resting stances into my normal body language as it really helps when I need to be sneaky. It's amazing how two weeks of constant performances can really help perfect a trick

It depends on the age of the kids, in part, and what I feel like doing. They do love a trick known as 3d sponge bunnies - you guys have probably never heard of it, check it out! (kidding). If I want to floor them, Cardtoon, Holey Moley, or, I'm forgetting the name, but the one where the X moves from my hand to their closed fist.

Them there sponge bunnies, are practical, performable and CUTE, and, it would appear from reading this thread, that they are popular, too!
One more thing...there is a TACTILE SENSATION, in the hand of the "holder"! Howsomever (!) anything that is "eye candy magic" would work...I'm thinking of the TT and silk vanish and reproduction. --and, the ELUSIVE silk van. and reproduction. Ideally, whatever the trick, it should need no set up. The EFFECT (what the spectator perceives) should be VISIBLE. If it's for a TABLE of kids, the action should be chest high.

I agree on 3d multiplying rabbits. Children love the little rabbits. Allways get a wow when they open their hands!

For kids in the 3 to 10 year range, I would perform sponge lady bugs and wonder bubbles. For kids in the 7 to 13 year range, I'd likely do something interactive with rubber bands. This is in consideration that the question is being asked in the strolling and table hopping section.

I have a new favorite. It is an old trick but made new again by Alan Sands.A trick by his father called "Chicken Thieves".

Gosh...it is sponge balls for me too! Never get tired of that one...
More specifically it is 'slime creatures from outer space', that is Clones. For older kids I use regular sponge. The noses on the balls make them explode out of their hands which has quite an impact. If younger kids are there I will switch to supersoft versions so they can hold them fully. |

For me too it’s sponges, however I have also used instead if the mood takes me, Richard Sanders’ Turbo. Stick, and sometimes Harlans’ ‘Cardtoon’.

I start by producing the coin go into a coin flurry and end with a jumbo coin production. It has multiple phases and can stop anytime the food arrives. Of course, you can do the same with sponges. I like them too.

Sponge bunnies. Eddie Ace makes the best ones, but they're expensive. Personally I love Will Fern's routine. Its designed for families but it works for everyone.

I just re-read the thread, and, noticed that no one (including me!) has mentioned the PURSE FRAME, production of the first ball! The purse frame "came in late" to sponge ball routines, but, it's well worth checking into.
Not only does the purse "set up" the first ball produced, it also provides a reason for going to the pocket, to put away, the frame, which provides the opportunity to steal a second ball! Before you spend $5.00 + postage for the frame, check out the thrift stores. They often have little purses, for as little as 50 cents! With a sharp pair of manicure scissors, it's easy to cut away the cloth or leather. If I can find a free minute, I'll check my "instruction" file(s) for a reference to the handling of the frame.
