Hi All: Several years ago now, I saw Keith Fields do his "Human Xylophone" routine at an Abbott's GetTogether evening show in Colon. Keith still sells this effect on his website www.keithfields.com or you may have seen him demonstrate it in one of his lectures. This is not a magic trick, more of a fun routine to get a bunch of kids/folks to work together to play "Happy Birthday". You can see his routine online at Keith's website.
I have long thought Keith's idea/routine could be easily adapted for an easy Gospel song kids routine. I will be using it in Lighthouse Kids! (Sunday School) next month for an opening session, I will post below here soon what I finally come up with. I am leaning toward having the kids play "Jesus Loves Me" with patter about unity/working together. Any thoughts out there or ideas/experiences/add on gags/lines when using the "Human Xylophone" in a Sunday School setting? Can't wait to try it out... |

I am so pleased to report too that the Keith Fields Human Xylophone comes with 4 pages of instructions including the very helpful notes references so the songs Joy to the World, Amazing Grace, This Little Light of Mine and Jesus Loves Me can be played by the volunteers. Thank you Keith! I thought I'd have to figure all those notes out myself. I hope to repeat this illustration several times in the months ahead so all the kids will get a chance to participate. This too is a perfect way to teach about harmony, working along with each other, how the world looks at how we collectively unite in love for Him, etc.. Well Done! A+ for immediate Sunday School use!
Total Sidebar: I received free today from info@laflinmagicstore.com today an EXCELLENT article entitled "The Gospel Is Not An Excuse For Doing A Magic Trick". Very convicting - a terrific reminder. If you did not receive one, my guess is Laflin Magic would be happy to email the same article to you on request. |

"Joy to the World" sounds fantastic on this set and uses all 8 pipes.🎼
