I seem to recall that Kuda Bux did a version of this trick which, I think, was first called "Seeing through a Woman." And as I recall, it was a larger box, somewhat similar to The Modern Cabinet.

Somewhere over the course of time, a smaller version of that effect surfaced that some of us called The Tube Illusion.

Does anyone know who invented this version?

For what's it's worth, I've seen Geometricks, but I always thought regular Tube Illusion was better.

Thanks,

Gerry

The only ones I have seen were produced by Chalet with the 4 tubes. The Kuda Bux one was with 2 large tubes and a large (as you say) cabinet, in the version that I know of he used 2 girls.

Not sure if Chalet is the one who came up with the idea. Perhaps it is the step before the Kub Zag?

Hey Blair,

I'm almost certain the Tube Illusion was out LONG BEFORE Chalet even knew that illusion existed. From what I seem to recall, the illusion was out about 1980, or possibly a few years before that time.

Thanks,

I was unable to copy and paste (no idea why) the links to previous Café threads about this illusion. Google "Magic Café Tubed Out Illusion". Several threads.

From one of them it indicates that Chalet built them with approval from Gunter Puchinger, also the originator of the Kub Zag. Chalet could have started producing about the time you are indicating.

I first started seeing Chalet at the conventions end of the 70's. I bought an illusion off of him at Hartford S.A.M. in 1979.

Hey Blair,

Thanks for this. I always enjoy your wisdom with all your postings.

What you're saying is entirely possible.

I was always under the impression that the Kuda Bux version was the real inspiration for the Tube Illusion. Also, I always heard rumors that the Tube Illusion was invented by someone over in England. Like I said, though, I just heard that part through the grapevine.

Thanks,

Gerry
