You have experience with getting ONE type of person (Yourself.) into ONE trade show booth and what attracted you specifically. Those of us who have performed at dozens of trade shows, (Actually over 200 in 30 years.) all different types of trade shows, have literally drawn tens of thousands of different types of people in different types of trade shows to booths. So the idea that your "experience" is moreso valid is ridiculous. But you can't see past the blinders that you wear and want to be a guru. Yes your experience is valid, but it is not universal like you think. This is the problem with "experience". It is not universal and it is why he specifically ASKED for people with experience in performance in this area successfully. You just can't imagine experience or extrapolate it from what you know. It is what it is. Also he was far more concerned with getting in touch with people to book the event, not what to wear.

Yet you take the opportunity to focus on my one comment and twist it to make me out to be a fake guru. I don’t know why you are trying so hard to “white knight” and make me out to be a villain,. We have had these conversations before and you continue to knit pick passive aggressively at me by focusing on one word or phrase I use and blowing it out of perportion to ridicule me and derail my threads. I’m not the first you have done this too, I am just the current flavor of the month. That’s fine if you want to keep doing that I’m just no longer going to engage with you.
Finalizing my remarks, you seem to take my comment as my own opinion greater than anyone else’s. Such narrow minded thinking, I spoke as an attendee giving an opinion and when I say that type of opinion is more valid than the magicians it’s because attendees are more important to the magicians customer than the magician himself. I pointed out my context as a viewer of performers and what many “viewers” have as opinions at trade shows. Magicians never hear these comments because 1. They don’t go to the bar/social gathering spot we are at 2. And We rarely tell the company who hired them. When those company’s vendor/agents hears those comments it’s usually after the sales team is impacted economically.. But it’s hurts the performer more, because now they’ve burned themself a bit in that market for more business. To not see insights from attendees as more valuable than insights from magicians at a trade show is wrong? Maybe for you Danny, maybe for other magicians, but outside of tricky business, companies pay huge sums of money to get customer insights. |

You are ONE attendee. Many companies spend money to get surveys from thousands of them and share those results with those of us WHO WORK THE BOOTH! Imagine that?
But never having worked one gives you a very limited perspective. Which you keep proving. He asked for those with experience. He was asking about getting leads to land the job. Nothing you offered did anything of the sort. But by all means keep going. As for landing the job a few things to keep in mind. As I said you need to br able to articulate your features and why those will benefit the situation. It needs to be more than simply attracting a crowd. What is it about what you do (other than owning a $1,000 suit obviously.) that will benefit this company at this show? This is not easy to answer. But until you can don't approach anyone about a show.
