My name is Dominique, I'm 70 yrs old and have always had an interest in close up magic but never had the time to pursue or devote the necessary time to this interest because of career commitments. Now that I'm retired I have the time, I'm going for it and having a ball.
Last fall I took a class, mostly card tricks, at the Sparta Avenue Stage in Sparta NJ. The class was taught by Mr. Bill Wisch, Slydini's prodigy. It was a great class presented by a great teacher and I love it. I'm still having trouble with some of the slights, but it's coming. Since then, I've really become interested in learning some Slydini's routines, specially the balls in the box, His coin through the table and other coin routines plus the knotted silks, to that end I have been watching(and practiced)several DVDs by Tony Clark, another of Slydini's students. I know some of you may think or will say 70 is to late to start or be anything other then a rank amateur. But I don't think it's ever too late to learn and have some fun. B.T.W -- I'm trying to change my username. |

It's never too late farfel17! Welcome to the Café!
There are a lot of helpful people here, and some pretty famous ones as well. I love books and DVDs about magic, but have to say that I've learned a lot here as well. Remember that when you reach 50 legitimate posts you will be able to access the Secret Sessions area, where more in-depth discussions are held, and the sale area where you will find unbelievable deals from many reliable sellers. You're going to enjoy it here!
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Welcome farfel17,
In 5 years you'll be 75 or 75 and amazing, it is never to late to make a change for the better. I have a friend who started in his 70s and he's made progress very quickly because he's had the time to get into it. Best of luck! -Mary Mowder |

Howdy and welcome Dom! I think you may need to email one of the moderators to change a user name. I looked just now, can't see a way to do it.
Have a Magical Day!
------ I really didn't know how to explain it. So I told them the truth, and they fell for it! |
