I can understand your feeling that in order to limit fraud and other dishonest behavior, you would want a person to be more established in the Café before they start selling.
But by making the Let's Make A Deal forum completely unavailable to people with fewer than 50 posts, it means that the few people who are allowed to post are only reaching 17% of the users in the forum! So, in effect, you're not only placing at a disadvantage the honest folks with fewer than 50 posts who have something to sell-- you're limiting the ones with access to the selling forum to showcasing their products to only 1,954 of the Magic Café's 11,220 users. Isn't there another way to protect the users from fraud? Or better: Is it really your job to do that? "Buyer Beware" works for eBay. Why not take that approach here? At the very least, couldn't those of us with fewer than 50 posts be allowed to view the forum, but not post there? It's a shame to allow such a valuable resource to be unavailable to 83% of the users. Avi |

Avi, this has been explained several times and is also explained HERE
It's not a matter of protecting against fraud but that of protecting the membership from those that may just join to sell or trade and contribute nothing to the Café.

Wouldn't you call making a purchase from an established user "contributing to the Café?"

No, the Café in no way benefits from the selling or trading of it's members. The Let's make a deal forum is only here as a courtesy to it's members and is not a needed forum for the Café to continue.

Understand here-- I'm new to the Café and positively loving it. I have gained from and contributed to the Café in the few days I've been a member, and I'm sure I will continue to do so.
Additionally, I'm not in the business of selling tricks, so I'm not arguing for my own financial gain here. But I am in the market for some props, and I can't even browse the Let's Make a Deal forum. It's a little frustrating. Sure, the Café can continue without the Let's Make a Deal forum. It could surely continue if you were to disable any one or two of the other forums as well. But it is the combination of all of the forums-- including Let's Make A Magic Deal-- that makes the Café's menu so inviting. Avi |

Then I would suggest that you go to the other forums that you enjoy and make some posts that count towards your 50 post count, The I want to see the manager section does not count. If you had spent the time that you have spent here, arguing your point when the decission has been clearly stated you would already be three posts closer to your goal and the Let's make a deal forum would be closer in view.

As Mya pointed out, the area is here as a courtesy only, people who are in desperate need to sell an item can go to EBAY, MAGIC AUCTION and other such places who cater to the needs of folks buying and selling. avimagic said; "Buyer Beware" works for eBay. Why not take that approach here?" We CLEARLY do. However, as has been explained before (I realize you are new and have apparently not read many of the postings here), one of the reasons there is a 50 post requirement is because we had an onslaught of new members who would join, never post and contribute to the Café, but list multiple items daily on the Café to sell. Basically, these folks were taking advantage of our generosity, but giving us nothing in return. The standard rule is our final solution. As Mya also pointed out, you might spend more time enjoying the rest of the Café, reading and posting (reaching the 50 post limit does NOT take that long) as opposed to arguing about our rules and policies here, rules you agreed to follow when you freely joined the Café. But then again, if the trading area is not working to the satisfaction of our members, perhaps it should be removed altogether? Further questions or comments can be sent to me via our PRIVATE MESSAGE system. Hope this helps to clarify any misunderstanding.
