I pulled out some Eisenhower dollars I had stashed away, which I polished way back when. I've seen threads about polishing coins, but am curious... Is there a way to readily un-polish, or remove the shine on silver and silver-clad coins ?

Most of the discussions I remember were in reference to copper coins (e.g.; EP's)
If you just want to remove the shine, a fine abrasive material could do that, but if you want a patina, you could try a search using that term (I vaguely remember discussions of coating the coin with something)

1 part sulfur to 5 parts vaseline. It is heat activated and will add patina. Another thing is just rubbing some dry dirt on them.

John, Thanks. Ill try the fine abrasive. Not looking to create a patina, just want to "dull out" the shine of polished silver

Scott, be warned, I have not tried this, so there may need be some experimentation

If you rub them with an abrasive they will get streaks and those streaks will be shiny. Rub some dry dirt on them.

Do not rub them with anything abrasive.
Rub them with bleach and the will darken |

It worked fine. I use some steel wool and it took out the "mirror" shine.
