Hello all, I have been interested in Magic for about two years now. I was obsessed as a kid and would preform shows at birthday parties until my mom had to sit me down and lecture me on how my adult self would be very angry if he knew how much money I was spending on Magic. Turns out she was wrong! Now I desperatley wish that I was allowed to continue on in my passion. Anyway when I was a kid I learned from Mark Wilson’s complete course in magic book. Ironically, a year ago my wife and I lived in Los Angeles and I got to take magic classes at the magic castle from my childhood hero Mark, his son Greg and wife Nani! This and my experiences at the castle have re-solidified my passion for magic. I hope to continue to learn from you all on the forum.

Welcome Trentonmatthew,
It sounds like you learned quite a lot as a Kid so that is great. My partner is also my Magic mentor and an amazing Magician. Starting very young, He grew up with limited access to store bought Magic till he was a teen (but still on a very tight budget). Practice, thought and imagination (especially helpful in learning from books and creating) made him a very skilled Magician. I would not fault your Mom for wanting you to watch your money. Spending too much in Magic can be a bad habit. Buying, looking and shelving to buy the next new thing is a common story here in The Café. I envy your Magic Classes with Mark, Noni and Greg. I've seen Mark lecture but classes would be better. Just meeting Mark and Noni was a thrill (I grew up watching their show). Best of fun on your continuing journey. -Mary Mowder |
