Thank you for removing the geek factor from this and bringing it into reality.

The bottom line is that Harry made it famous.

Why do you nerds debate things that only geeks care about?

Pathetic.

Thanks, guys. Incidentally, let me go back some decades. After Dick Himber introduced me to Al Koran and Al did the discussed item for me --- some time passed and then I performed my version for Dai Vernon, Bill Simon, Eddie Balducci, Francis Carlyle, Dick Cardini, Jack Miller, Jimmy Herpick, Lou Tannen, among others. (Obviously none of whom had anywhere near the vast knowledge, intelligence, etc., of our dear anonymous Count!)

As mentioned, Jack Miller said that the basic idea was his, but more importantly - a couple of the above mentioned were fooled, didn't know the effect at all. The others raved about my handling of it - absolutely better handling, less of a set-up, and so on. And that now (we were discussing my upcoming first book - C-UCM) people will know about the idea.

The main reason I was doing the thing for these knowledgeable people in the first place was to help me decide whether to include it in C-UCM. I think that the literally tens of thousands, all over the world, who have raved about it, performed it, since 1962, help me to know that I made the right decision.

Sometimes something bad becomes good (like being dyslexic leading me to try to remember better and leading into a pretty successful career, or even more so - being in the hospital with Typhoid fever during World War II when all my comrades went overseas and, so far as I know, none of them came back - obviously nowhere near as important ---

the obvious stupidity, jealousy, hatefulness, stopping the pulling wings off flies and coming out from under his moist rock only and whenever there's a flattering thread about Harry Lorayne (let me Count {Lustig} the ways!)instigated that nice list of my stuff by magicfish - and all the other nice comments about me and my work - here.

So, I guess that sometimes the trolls (who prove that often the internet is the "bastion of cowardice, jealousy and viciousness") need to be thanked. Thank you, Count Lustig. Hopefully there will be another flattering thread about me sometimes, here or elsewhere, so that you'll have that opportunity again - to stop pulling wings off flies, come out from under your moist rock for a breath of fresh air, the opportunity for you to spout some more of your idiotic jealousy. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for sharing that experience with us Harry. You definitely made the right decision. But obviously you don't need us to tell you that, I think Vernon, Carlyle, Miller, Simon's opinions etc., carry a bit more weight than mine- but I agree with them wholeheartedly.
That story made my day.

I've taught it in a number of my books - and there are a couple of routines using it in my upcoming (if it ever gets done - having a problem getting a photographer to do the photos). You ask about items that have appeared in q few of my books, which tells me that you haven't read those books, Dr. Brewhaha - you really do have to start reading the good stuff.

I do have 7 or your books but am working slowly through them. I asked the question here so as to be able to focus on the best of the best.

Classic 1,2,3, The Magic Book, Personal Collection, Jawdroppers 2, and Only my Apocalypse.

I should know them better than I do but I haven't been in the game that long.

Okay; you've got a bit of reading/learning ahead of you. (Don't know where you got Personal Collection - been out of print for decades. And since a couple you've named are available only directly from me, I should know what to call you besides DrBrewhaha!

Well, I see that my friend magicfish has once again beat me to the punch. His list is amazing as is the magic. I want to discuss three sleights from Mr. Lorayne that in my mind at least are must learns.

1. Illogical Double Lift: This is one of those sleights that you think would NEVER fly. You'd be wrong. I use it for a Cameron Francis routine titled "Oh No, Not Another Thang." The Illogical Double Lift is a crucial part of the routine and I don't know the psychology of the "why" but this sleight just works. It works beautifully as a Top Change when it doesn't matter if you have seen the card along with your audience.

2. Spread Control: Another one of those sleights that again you would think is so obvious that it wouldn't fool your cat. I've fooled my cats, dogs, koi, and humans with it. Pro tip from the master himself: spread a handkerchief over the spread and just scoop everything up. Everything is where it ought to be and ready for you to magish!

3. Expert Full Deck Overhand: If you're strolling, in the hands ***** shuffles are essential. This is a beautiful and utterly convincing shuffle. Learn it. Smile

I want to mention a routine that may not be on magicfish's list. The routine is titled "Color (Not So) Quickie." This one is a bit hard to find as it is in Personal Collection but if you have that rare book please learn this routine? There is LOTS of very visual magic happening. The title is the result of Mr. Lorayne's "Color Quickie" which you'll find in the Classic Collection volume one. It's a great routine but the enhanced version in Personal Secrets is a killer.

I am trying to get back home to America and I am trying to figure out a way to get my library shipped. It's about 4000 dollars that I simply do not have so I have to make very tough choices about what to take out of tons of books - unless a miracle happens. So, I am taking every Harry Lorayne book plus Greater Magic and J.K. Hartman books. I think so highly of Mr. Lorayne's magic that I will leave other books behind. All of that said, some prayers would be nice so I can take my magic with me back to the States and kickstart my magic there.

Best,
"Vlad"

Googling turns up discussion threads here and at Genii which reveal that the move can be learned in a variety of places, under a variety of names, with a variety of inventors.

Yeah, listen to Mr. Cavendish - wonderful font of knowledge - if you DON'T want to learn MY Illogical Double Lift. Of course there are always similarities. Closest similarity was/is Ed Marlo's KM Move. He and I discussed it a bit - I published those discussions way back in APOCALYPSE. I've taught it in quite a few of my books, going back decades.

Perhaps someone (other than Mr. Cavendish) can do the research for me - and you.

You're much better off listening to ... "Harry's Illogical Double Lift: This is one of those sleights that you think would NEVER fly. You'd be wrong. Hi Harry, Is there a trick from C-UCM that you tend to use more often than others? A go-to item these days?

I recall you doing Snap! from Reputation Makers and the Epitome Location when folks were playing with a full deck.

Hi Jonathan: I still do the ones you mention - obviously if a rubber band is lying around I'll certainly do Snap! Otherwise it really is according to the audience and according to how I feel at the moment. But From C-UCM, Take Me To Your Leader is strong, as is Out Of This Universe, Little Fella'-Big Fella', Lorayne's Poker Deal, Saltless, Stop!, Lorayne's Ambitious Card Routine, Challenge Aces --- are a few that come to mind at the moment.

Actually there are a lot of people who just live online and not in the real world. Harry lives in the real world and has performed magic all over, and not just online on youtube or whatever else. That's how you get to be good and develop good magic, like Harry has done for so many years.
