I know someone once made a "Giant Crystal Silk Cylinder" that was about 2 feet tall. Do any of you know the particulars, and who made it?
Thanks, Amos McCormick

I think Duane Laflin made it as we were talking about it last weekend at FFFF.

I believe the one you are refering to is the Geneo dealer. He is deceased now. Someone was to continue the product but I have not seen any ads for the tubes. If I remember correctly he advertised it as a Rabbit production tube. These were very large and had chrome bases and used plexiglass tubes.
Duane Laflin carries a large tube, but his site is down currently. Also, Chalet Magic makes a heavy duty one out of heavy gage steel. |

I found a "Dazzling Silk Cylinder" on Duane's website, but there's no information on size.
I'm not familiar with "Geneo". What/who is it? Amos McCormick

Amos,
How ya been, buddy? I think I traded one of these MONSTERS off not too long ago. If it's the overall size you're looking for, this was it. It was over 2 feet tall, and would hold a couple dozen of the BIG plastic Easter eggs. It was just the single tube method, very colorful, though. If you email me, I may be able to put you in touch with the person who got it. Steve Thomas |

Hi, MAK magic also made a giant Crystal Silk Cylinder at one time. I own both sizes that they made.
It is over 24" high, and has a cover that is blue and gold striped. MAK also made a jumbo Genii Tube (I purchased both the chromed and the painted versions), a jumbo Fraidy Kat Rabbit, and a jumbo Frgetful Freddie. Of course, it was not as well made as something by Dazzling Magic might be, in my opinion. - Donald.

The model Duane Laflin made was huge. I think there are some photos of it on his website in promo pictures. He used giant sponge balls in his.
The Test Tube Bunny is a good large size Crystal Cylinder that will hold three 90" silks. I know as I have used it several times to produce up to six CEOs at trade shows. Marty is doing a good job making them also.

P&A also made a type out of polished aluminum that would produce a six footer--- and hide the blends easily. Could also be used for double loads with proper handling.
TOP CRAFTSMANSHIP -- NOT CHEAP -- ABOUT 30" TALL.

I have never operated any one of these items before. Can anyone direct me to a performance video or can anyone give me a rundown of the routine?
I'm not sure how deceptive the illusion is - is he load well hidden? Look forward to hearing fom y'all. |

David,
For a description of a routine, click on one of the links in the posts above. I'm not sure if there is a performance video online anywhere. Maybe someone else knows. Maybe you should PM someone the request about deceptiveness, as it gets a little bit into the area of method. The answer is pretty subjective, anyways. Methods are usually discussed a little more freely in the banquet room area, which members have to have 50 legitimate posts to enter. - Donald. The Crystal Silk Cylinder that Laflin sells on his website is the one manufactured by Dazzling Magic (referred to in a few posts above). It's 13" high. I would not consider that one a jumbo-sized one, when contrasted with the Mak one I referred to in an earlier post. - Donald.

I just purchased a huge cylinder from a guy on eBay and I didn't quite realize how big it was. I was assuming it was a small one. Guess I got more for my money.
As far as performance ideas, I did find a DVD on the dazzlingmagic site regarding the cylinder performance. Just do a search on that site and you'll find it with no trouble.

Clinton,
If it suits your needs, Test Tube Bunny from Marty at Dazzling Magic, is a terrific prop. Audiences LOVE it. It looks good on your table too! 'unc.
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and that's usually good enough to make a decent living.

After re-reading this thread, the one I got on eBay is like Donald mentioned. It's from Mak - the 24" one. It's AWESOME. Mak no longer is selling this, however. Anyone have an extra they want to part with? Donald perhaps? Mine has been used extensively and could use swapping out for fewer dents and better paint.

Sorry, Matt. I sold my Jumbo Mak Genii Tubes (both) and my Jumbo Mak Crystal Silk Cylinder a couple of years ago.

I can build you a silk cylinder in any size you wish. Much studier than the MAK version as they used formed plastic sheet for the tubing. Please e-mail me at info@proline-magic.com if interested.
