Me neither. I like Lewis, I buy all his stuff.
Curious why Mr. Dunn doesn't teach it himself.

Wasn’t a huge fan of this and not because it wasn’t new and shiny. My problem is that’s it’s not a true two hit reveal, it’s really only a name reveal. I can think of several more direct ways to do the same thing as this accomplishes. With a move or two you could turn this into a true two hit effect but it would water it down a little. In some ways Zoltar reminds me of one of the last good effects I purchased which was AOK from Lewis. That was brilliant routining IMO.

This certainly looks like not much more than Magician's Graphology (Andy Nyman)?

I am glad most are enjoying it. I am humble about my own creations because I am humbled by other great creators all the time. This is the only routine I have put together that I would brag about. I work for Penguin as part of our production team and meet one to two magicians a week. I don't show this to every magician but I do show it a lot and they always say, I know where you how got the one thing but I have no idea how you got the p***. For me to learn a routine that is bullet proof without sleights is earth shattering in my world. My world gets rocked when I learn anything that I can use to make my magic more powerful.
A little about me, I am not a serious mentalist. I have a character, he's weird and funny but not serious. In other words for me to make a moment of magic meaningful is difficult. Zoltar allows me to break character and do something really strong and very convincing. Someone asked why I don't appear on film. I choose other performers because my performance style would distract from how good the routine is. I'm ok at explaining but not great and being old and fat doesn't help either lol.

Can someone tell me how this compares to Luca Volpe's In and Out? I'm a big purchaser of magic and I get confused and torn between all these presentations of p**** and revelations accompanied with cold reading that I can't tell the differences or advantages of one over the other. I usually get both to support creators and satisfy my love of method building but they're getting similar. I look at great reviews but as an older guy I wonder if it's newer magicians posting what they're new discoveries are that were once upon a time amazing to me too...

Is this not very similar to Key to Your Mind by Luca Volpe?

Think about this...
If you want to make the spec look as if they guessed the correct card, after you have them hold the cards between their palms you can remove the cards and do a gl##e to reveal ..... |

I am familiar with the other effects mentioned but really like the simplicity & practicallity of this version.

Never mind. I figured out what it is. Someone posted this method in the forums for this trick.

Here's my review by the way:
This is a very clean easy effect. If you're expecting anything earth shattering here, you'll be disappointed. Essentially this is just a clean way to peek the name in the context of a trick. This peek is not the type of peek you can substitute into other tricks in general though. That being said in the context of this trick it works really well. It's all really nice that you can use this guaranteed hit at the end to be able to make all types of hot and cold predictions about the person they're thinking of depending on how skilled you are at those type of things. Louis gives you a little information about it, but if you know what you're doing you can do so much more. Louis does promise to say how to do this with blank business cards and forgets to but in the forums you can find several methods. You should note that although the angles are great you can't do this surrounded. You probably have about 240 degrees that are safe which is pretty decent. This trick is designed to be done in a more casual situation. I wouldn't recommend doing this at a gig you're clearly paid to perform at unless your persona is a mind-reader who isn't very structured or unless you are asked to do some mentalism and you can behave as if you weren't expecting to be asked to do that, but you have an idea. All this being said, in the right circumstances (which is a very significant percentage of the time) this is a simple trick that has potential to be an absolute killer. |

And where is the explanation with completely blank cards(both sides blank)?
Did I overlook that in the explanation video? |

This is good, but it's a variation (barely — the peek is *slightly* different) of a routine Eric Mead published in Tangled Web
Travis edit: and Eric's routine has some cool details that this doesn't (two peeks, one of which is similar to this new release, a cleanup and a "proving" thing for those who care about that, and some nice small details in the presentation that I won't spoil) |
