Hi everyone. First off - if this is in the wrong forum I apologize (I mostly hangout in the sidewalk shuffle). I'm discussing presentation here only. I presently do Rubikon - I have a volunteer join me on stage and we match our cubes. However the magician then has to solve the cube - the spec cannot. I thought it would great if using RD360 the spectator could solve.
The problem I'm having is - Rubikon is done in the open - RD 360 needs a paper bag. How do you go from doing magic in full view to suddenly introducing a paper-bag? Do you see the discrepancy? Any thoughts or ideas on how to present this would be most appreciated. Thanks so much. And yes I did a search but found nothing on this topic. Thanks. Dave |

I don't see a discrepency but rather an opportunity for a natural build. Instead of the paper bag being viewed as an aid it could be positioned as making solving the cube more difficult. Patter would be about how the most difficult way to solve the cube is blindfolded because one has to memorize the starting position, figure out all the turns, and execute them without any visual feedback. Then say we don't have a regulation blindfold handy but this paper sack will do. Then when they did solve it I would act utterly dumbfounded and ask them to teach me how to do it.
Pretty much everyone has seen the rubick pros do this on TV so it is pretty natural. |

Thanks Frank. Yea actually I was thinking something like that also... at the end of the matching - instead of doing the one handed solve in the open - do it in a bag and call it the one handed paper bag solve. Then it's a natural progression (as you pointed out) to go on to the spectator solving it with the RD360 in a bag as well.
Thanks again. Dave |
