Hello all! My name is Paul. My love for magic I has been going on for 21 years now. I walked into my first magic store and it was al over. I was hooked. I started off with trick decks. Then one day I seen triumph and like everyone else I was amazed. That started my trip down the slight of hand card magic. I have an interest in al areas of magic. I more gravitate towards close up and parlor. I live in northwestern Louisiana and try as I may I have been unable to find any magic community out here. Things like the magic Café and associate memberships to SAM and IBM are how I keep up with the community.

Welcome to the Café Paul. I think your magic shop memory is the same story for many of us. We had a fabulous magic shop within a bike ride of my childhood home. I couldn't really afford anything at that time, but fortunately we also had a county library also within a bike ride, and they had several shelves of magic books!!!
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I did a lot of performing while I was in the military. Mostly in bars when I was stationed in Oklahoma. I did not do it for money so much as experience and enjoyment. When I was in Korea I was dining magic for people almost every day. Even had a paying gig out there. Also performed for for my in-laws. So to answer your question, pretty much everyone. I am not really a children’s performer as a gravitate more towards cards. It was frustrating at the time but I really enjoyed performing cross the language barrier.

Thanks.
That is very interesting.
I am returning to magic and am forced to consider
That question.
Especially when my wife asks.
“ who are you going to perform
That for?” ( when I show her an expensive
Purchase) lol Smile
Right now I’m planning on blowing
Her mind with Dean Dills “ Blizzard”

Yeah I am gearing up to start trying to get gigs. I know a few people that do it professionally and their advices is for the most part the same as here. I think it’s more finding a place that is looking for our type of entertainment. I live near Shreveport, where you can get a street performers license which could help with getting a fan base and sell some one on you being able to bring them in on a gig. Another pice if advice I was given was to develop a fan base. I love blizzard. I had always been apprehensive about it but then I found out about “the clooler”. It makes me not comfortable about the business end of that effect.
