The heat has to be on the pad as it can be nowhere else.
Stage and cabaret are a completely different game than close-up mingling. The focus, misdirection, etc are all different. The stage version of this was perfection because of the wonderful surprise, and then the performer was onto the next effect. The performer has more control. In a pub or at a corporate event - inevitably people will be begging to see the pad, which won't be the fault of the performer but a clever prop that was meant for stage. With this effect there is no other solution... all roads will lead to the pad. I don't do magic anymore, so maybe I am wrong. But I think I am right.

This version though uses something that makes sense for strolling around, at least close to it. A note pad that can be easily explained, and they're receiving the thing they just saw. You could use it as an opener, and move on quickly. Or, you could use it as a closer...and move on quickly. I get it in this "Google it" age, but I don't know why this would be more of an issue than the stage version, and I would think this would be less of one. BUT, maybe somebody can PM me without revealing much, but I'm curious if the selection can be changed? |

Surely the focus of attention would be on the ripped out sheet and everyone examining that by the time they come back to you the pad is put away or you have moved to a different effect?

I think if you were to do this for friends etc they would definitely want to look at the pad afterwards however in a true working situation I think you could get away with it but there's only one way to find out and that's to try it or wait for some honest reviews rather than the hyped up reviews that initially come up when something new is released.

I’ve watched the explanation, it may not show it on the video which could be my mistake.
But what I’m pointing out is there is nothing to pull and therefore fingers are not hidden behind and they all stay still during the animation.

It seems like everyone winds up with the same card (the three of diamonds). Is that correct?
For stage, where I'm doing it once, that's fine. But for strolling, especially at an event where people will talk with each other, I much prefer effects where different outcomes will happen. I feel it will detract from the effect after the fact (so people might find it cool at the time and then have a let down afterwards - which would be a shame) if I do this 5 or 10 times or more and people wind up seeing that everyone "chose" the three of diamonds. I look forward to real world reviews after the release. And possibly replacement sets being made in multiple cards. |

From my understanding the reset is about one and a half seconds! Which means it takes longer to read my last statement. I use the stage and parlor versions normally to close my show. There is no way and I'm very serious about this there is no way I would not have this on me. We have all been asked to "Do a trick" for someone once it is discovered we are magicians. This would floor them. I will post my review on this as soon as I have it and am able to post a full review. But I have a very strong feeling this will sell out soon. Also one final thing, I know Martin Lewis I consider him a dear friend and I can assure you he DOES NOT run out of ideas. This is not a remake for the sake of remaking. This is a new way of doing a fantastic effect. From what I hear and this is for those of us who have this great effect this version is so much easier to handle as well as reset. To me and for the price this is simply a no brainer.
I will address the heat part once I've given this version a full chance. I can tell you this, so far I have found once you hand out the risen card page to them all they do is start to rub the page and never have I been asked to see the pad. I also remember seeing this performed at Disneyland by a magician in a show and my nephew asked me how did he do it...I said "Michael I have no idea but I'm going to find out." The rest is history. Good magic to all, Eric |

Had a business card version years ago, it was pretty good. BTW- I had a chance to see Mr. Lewis lecture. He performed the original effect (I was the spec) and signed the handout drawing for for me- great souvenir.

I have the larger one, but really do mostly close-up for friends and family...I love this trick...bought this new version immediately, from the man himself!

I may be overthinking this, but why is the 3 of diamonds black? In other versions, Martin has made the red rising card (diamond or heart) red. I would think if he wanted to keep the rising card black, it could have been a club or spade like his other black rising versions. For example his cardiograhic lite has a black spade rising, or he offers a red version where a red seven of hearts rises. That makes sense to me.

This morning I met them coming out of the Photo shop, they had had the giveaway framed. He said it was the highlight of his cruise, bear in mind that a couple of days ago we visited the Hubbard Glacier, one of nature majestic wonders Those folks were less that three feet away so obviously they saw something quite different than you. Ustaad, For the past three years I have written a column, first for Magic Magazine then for Genii, in each one I present a new effect for Parlor or Stage. I have not run out of new ideas. Further, it was nothing I resorted to. In fact I planned on keeping Close-Up Cardiographic for myself until pleas from my friends, and other pressures, convinced me otherwise.
