Transcendence - Peter Pellikaan
$25.00 https://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=58154 The Hype: The most magical change of four cards you have ever seen!!! Four spot cards are shown front and back. The cards are mixed face up and face down. Now with no funny moves the cards instantly change to four court cards, which once again are shown front and back!!! Transcendence is a super quick, ultra-visual packet trick that will fool your spectators badly. Peter Pellikaan, the undisputed King of crazy packet tricks has created one of the best four card changes we have ever seen! Transcendence comes complete with everything you need to start using it straight out of the box. Includes: in depth training DVD, gimmicks and carry wallet. My Take: What you get - A nicely produced DVD, eight ultra thin Phoenix playing cards and that special "something" that is needed to accomplish the trick. One section of the DVD that is not to be missed is the Toolbox. Here Peter teaches the Eddy Taytelbaum count which is used in the routine. He also teaches other counts that you might need to know for other routines. Marlo's OPEC Count, Pellikaan's Combination Count, J.P. Vallarino's Rumba Count, Daryl's Combo Counts and the Cut Count. Eddy Taytelbaum is a Dutch magician who turned 93 this year and I love this count. It is a variation of the Elmsley that I had not seen before and it is very deceptive. There have been a few other variations published in the past (such as Bannon's Bullet Party Count) and this is a very nice addition. I was not familiar with Peter before seeing this trick. A little research shows me that he is considered the authority on packet tricks. On the DVD, he says that he has created over 100 packet tricks but I saw that someone online had given him credit for 300. Either total is enough to make me sit up and take notice. Like a lot of you, I got started a long time ago with packet tricks. There are very few of us who have not done Color Monte a time or two. It looks like Transcendence should find its way into your set, too. The trick does require some minimal preparation but this is only necessary once. He teaches it using the Phoenix cards but says you can also set it up with regular cards. After trying both ways, I have found that the regular card setup works better for me. The cards feel more natural in my hands than the super thin ones. It is also easier to perform the moves necessary. When I first opened the package, watched the DVD and set up the cards as taught, I was unable to get the trick to work. However, a good session of practice has got me performing it properly now. It will take some practice and a "knacky" touch but take the time to get this smooth and you have a killer effect that is reminiscent of NFW. The cards cannot be examined but that is a characteristic of many of the packet tricks so it should not pose a problem. This would be an ideal trick for walk around. The reset can be done in just a second or two. The Taytelbaum count took me a few minutes to get comfortable with but if you can do an Elmsley, you will be able to do this. It actually has a lot more activity happening than the Elmsely thus making it more deceptive. Alakazam says that they have been trying for some time to get Peter to let them release some of his effects so this is Number 1 in his Master Packet Trick Series. I like this and it makes me anxious to see just what they will release for Number 2. |
