Vanishing Inc have just released my ”Of Dice and Men” - a rather dark and funny stage/parlor piece that is inspired by the combo of a rather horrid relationship I once had and Andy Nyman’s close-up trick ”Diceman”.

Hugging a stranger in today's climate might not be the best thing to do.
And then making the other 5 options to kill them? Definitely not for me.
Jack Straw from Wichita, cut his buddy down
And dug for him a shallow grave, and laid his body down Half a mile from Tucson, by the morning light One man gone and another to go, my old buddy you're moving much too slow We can share the women, we can share the wine |

If you are a young good lookin performer I can see getting away with it, and Tom being French, no problem. For me, not so good lookin old guy, maybe not, would probably come across creepy. Saying that, this can be changed around to suit all kinds of different wording and shows. Very nice opener indeed. On my radar for sure.

Looks excellent. Are the cards included? Sorry I can’t see a mention on the website.

I have been trying for several days now to flatten them out. First I tried heavy boxes on top and right now I have a big pile on books and I'm using my kitchen floor tile. It's a lot better but still curved. Did I just get a bad batch? Any other suggestions to flatten them out? Ed |

One question: in different performances, might different numbers be called out? Thanks.

One more question. Can they choose a number instead of using the Die?
I don't care how fast or slow you are.... As long as I am faster.. -J-

If you have never performed this routine you'll never know the excitement it creates. And the laughs it gets with the hug and kill. I usually show the kills to the spec and hug her again. |

Most of them worked perfect on the first few performances, but after 8-10 shows wear and tear began to show. And making versions for other languages; a real hassle. Each time, I found that I became reluctant to perform it after just a few performances. ...until I came up with this version: There is nothing that can snag, catch or tear. I don't need to be overly careful in packing. Making custom versions with different words or in different languages is simple. The procedure gives room for a bit of banter. And during the last 13-14 years, I have never hesitated to perform it. The die is in play for a few seconds, and then it is forgotten. |
