On the video:
"one of the benefits is this packs flat" package arrives in a tube... Tried flattening mine under some books which is not working at all. Will try the rolled up the opposite way thing. Even my tears have not been able to flatten it. So in theory you could get this and perform it the same day, but the props will not allow it. Great routine and I'll be very happy once I can get a flattened set. Also, a tube is a great shape to also supply a little container for the die.

It is a fantastic effect... But sadly I expect that most will just do it as described. I can see performers in badly fitting suits, performing this in a local townhall on some makeshift stage with bad lights. And they will get some chuckles, whilst imagining that the audience roared with laughter.
I think the only performer I've seen do it, and who pulls it off is Rob Zabrecky All the best, Dan |

The video doesn't go into much detail about performance, neither does the book. While I like that it makes us come up with our own slant, I wouldn't have minded seeing a bit more there.
I thought the badly fitting suit was mandatory for mentalists?

Using George's suggestion of straightening the badly curved cards, I flipped them around the other way & stored them for a day back in the box. This did nothing but give the cards warped edges AND THEN, all the cards eventually went back to their badly curved conditions. If they can't send me proper flat cards, direct from the factory, I'm going to send the whole package back.

I’m guessing these sat in a hot warehouse all summer and because the cards are plastic-esque, the heat warped them. I reversed mine and put them back in the box for 5 days. Slightly better but still a significant curve. Might take a hairdryer to them to see if heat helps.

Rather than all of you spending days trying to flatten your cards, you all should be returning them and demanding refunds. I’m afraid that is the only thing that will get them to stop packing them rolled in a tube. Otherwise, they have no motivation to change their ways.
I would think Tom Stone would step in and demand a change, at least as much as he is capable of. Obviously this has already hurt sales somewhat and will no doubt continue to do so more and more. Somebody made a poor choice. They should own it and make things right. |

People should start selling books rolled up, it makes perfect sense.
Having tried to flatten them again in the box, they are not flat, they are warped. (Advice from Vanishing Inc. is to put 3 in each side of the box, folded back on themselves individually, slightly overlapping). I think they should stop selling them as is and ship people flat ones. We have bought a product that arrives damaged.

The creators are all over the place before the product comes out and for the initial sales burst, then they disappear after the complaints start rolling in. After all, they all have better things to do with their time, since they're all working professionals and they really had no interest in releasing their show stopper anyway, but some other working professional convinced them to do it. Tom Stone's last post- August 28th. Sales burst is over, therefore, personal appearances are over. But I'm sure that "someone will alert him" to the problem (although I guarantee you that he's reading this every single day anyway), and he will come back and profusely apologize and say things are out of his control and he was assured that the plastic material was problem-free and his are fine (yeah, his weren't rolled up), etc, etc, etc. And so it goes.

Something feels amiss to me - I understand growth is sometimes painful. But when I was in Vegas (or Blackpool) as a partner I kept getting the same vibe - the company seems focused on itself and has perhaps lost site of it's origins. I have always been a strong partner to them. They chose to not carry my new item (which has nothing to do with my ending my business relationship with them). But for me I am always about customers and service - and taking care of business not just when things are going right - but more importantly taking care of business when things go wrong. The writing is on the wall. Read the above posts - read what happened with the Kraft Amazebox. I feel the growing pains at Vanishing Inc. I always liked them - but I honestly don't feel they are in the best place these days in terms of being humble, and remembering where their success came from. As I creator I would not choose them as a partner. Perhaps in the future they will be more introspective.
