Careful, the DVD can slide up into the adhesive portion of the sleeve that's stuck to the inside back cover, resulting in sticky residue on the disc edge, which can make playback problematic. This is what I discovered when I had a hard time getting the disc out of the sleeve because the glue got on the disc itself and bound it to the sleeve.

Well, I Ordered mine on Monday and I feel like an impatient child on Christmas morning. Normally when I order a book from this site, it only takes 2 to 3 days. This is the third day and I am really hoping it is in todays delivery, tommorrow at the latest. This will allow me to take the time to read though the whole book this weekend. I am keeping my fingers crossed and my eyes on the mail box. - Please, let it be today. - I know it sounds childish, but coin magic has all ways been my first true love. Of course, I will not be telling the wife this....although, after 30 years of marriage, I think she knows.

Even though the material will be too advanced for me, I ordered the book last night to make sure I received one. Latta was wonderful.

I peeled away the small perforated strip to remove my dvd and it too was under the top edge and glued in a bit. Since I had seen this post before I even thought about watching the dvd, I knew to be careful. Luckily, on mine, only the "outer edge" (where the milling is on a coin) was stuck to the white part of the sleeve. I got the adhesive off with a light rub of my thumb.

Well, as I stated before I ordered my copy Monday ( Oct 1 ) , the tracking number has stated it went to the post office and -Package Acceptance Pending- ever since. Looks like the USPS has a new definition for Priority Mail. It truely sucks that today is Oct 8 and getting my book is no where in site. I wish everyone else has better luck receiving their book.

Finally got my copy (delivered reasonably quickly within Europe by www.vanishingincmagic.co.uk).
I can confirm all the problems with the book packaging: the sleeve (attached to the book) tends to "absorb" the glue and pass it on to the DVD. Had some problems, but finally managed to rip the DVD (now safely stored as .MP4 file). Now going through the content of the book: indeed lots of stuff! |

There's going to be a lot of coin twirling as folks read that book.
Forwards not backwards. Upwards not forwards. Always twirling... Especially when coins are Nowhere palmed. Subtly? Latta Nerve

Well as previously noted my copy of The Long Goodbye was lost by the USPS shortly after they received it. While Vanishing Inc. was not able to track it down, they were very quick to ship a replacement copy of the book, at no cost to me. It arrived yesterday and I am looking forword to spending the Whole weekend with it; as, my wife is going to visit our daughter and will be away for a few days. I guess my family will all have and enjoyable weekend.

Well have folks gotten to page eighteen? Geoff twirled a coin in both hands after the second vanish in his no-EG Hanging coins. Takes guts to direct attention millimeters from where coins are hiding.
* transfer from flop clip to (somewhere) needed. At a guess ...there's going to be much renewed interest the pop-up sleight as folks explore the c/s/b and coins across options.

I came to learn better as to the importance of this from Latta, but took a great lesson mostly from Homer Liwag, who does this in some of his routines. It can be almost hypnotic and devilishly deceptive, and feels like you're spinning a couple of six-guns at your fingertips.

This book is so rich. I feel I will be learning from it for the rest of my life. There was some minor transfer of glue to the DVD but rubbing alcohol on a qtip took care of that. Now the DVD is in a hard shell case and its contents ripped to my hard drive.

Curious to know...
Did Geoff use half dollars exclusively when he was younger and later start using dollar coins, or did he switch back and forth depending on the trick? |

I remember Geoff in the 80s using half dollars. Not sure when he started with dollars. My guess is that he began when he was able to get good quality dollar size gaffs made from Lassen

Micheal, so do most of the routines use standard coins?

There are Dollar coins and shell routines. Geoff's handling of the cylinder and coins uses a 3 dollar nest (expanded shell / non-expanded shell / reduced coin) Theres also a sun and moon gaff used. You will also need a coin purse. Nothing really out of the ordinary as far as I recall. You will need a sturdy high backed chair because there will be several times you throw yourself back thinking "How the !@#$ did he come up with that idea !!!" If you are proficient with Roth's work (very similar style and sleights used) then you get along with the routines no problem. Geoff just had a different way of construction. Cheers Nev
