Cards, four small sponges, and flashy coin trick like Scotch and Soda. The bigger sponges get a bit squashed in jacket pockets but I don't find the small ones too bad.

I carry two un-gimmicked decks of card in my coat pockets and a handful of change in a pants pocket. That is all that is necessary for a few impromptu tricks.

Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

My impromptu magic is usually with coins.
I've started carrying 3 ropes in my pocket, as well as a deck of cards, and a silk for card through silk (the latest addition to my repertoire). I'll have to learn some more things that can be done with one silk. I think there's something done with coins and a ring. |

Wow, this is a great thread. It's interesting that in the original post, Jordini asked what we carry when we're not expecting to do any magic. From the looks of it, we magician types are always expecting to do magic.
I can honestly say that I always have cards (one deck with a dupe, and an odd back) on me. (How embarrassing.) I'm also in the habit of having a coin or two, some rubberbands, and a TT. And as soon as I get that strike vanish down, a pen for ReCap. Now, what I have with me when I am expecting to do magic...pretty much the same stuff, except I'll add a string, and maybe some flash paper. Hmmm, and a silk or two. Sponge balls will be coming soon, as I really need to get away from the cards... Man, I hope I'm never at a nudist beach where people are wearing socks... I also hope I'm never compelled to do magic while at a nudist beach, as there would (hopefully) already be some strong, visual magic going on... (And I'm not talkin' about me...) Mike
Why doesn't it tickle when I tickle myself, but it still hurts when I stick a fork in my eye?

I'm pretty new, just getting back into magic after years of not doing it, but now that friends are talking about my doing magic again, I'm starting to get asked. So at all times, I Strivings' "Warm Fuzzies Up Close". The set of stones I put together and the bag they live in will also work for Kurotsuke if I have a bunch of people asking for magic.
I also carry Scotch and Soda with me everywhere. I'm sure as I learn more, and become more comfortable with it, I'll carry more stuff. Not so big a deal when you carry a purse you could hide a Volkswagen Bug in. Wendy

I always have a deck of cards, some coins and a "Stock Holder" for some magic with business cards... It's impromptu, but it never hurts to be somewhat prepared!
;-) Have a nice day! Louis |

I just learned Andrew Mayne's Ghost Bills, and wrote soem workable patter for it. I've tried it a couple of times, and I'm quite sure I'll be doing it regularly. I don't need to carry ANYTHING with me to do Ghost Bills!

A selection of rubber bands for CMH and one or two other band effects, possibly a couple of simple packet card tricks which can be done with all the emphasis on presentation, a TT and that's about it. Anything more would mean going out on the street armed to the teeth with magical apparatus!
