Hello:
I bought this about a year ago, but haven't added it to the act yet. Denny (of Denny and Lee Magic) says it gets a big reaction - has anybody else used this or seen it used? I'd like to add it to the act as a quicky piece to break up a couple longer routines. Any input will sure be appreciated. Thanks. Ron |

I use this bit as an MC, and it does extremely well. I've used it in my show a couple times, but it's a regular in my MC bits. Ecspecially in Florida where 90 percent of the people are THAT age.

Dick Stoner performs this at every show he does sense he discovered it. He has put hours in the routine as is and it sells wonderfully.
Give it a try and find out for yourself. It will become a regular in your act as well. |

Yes, it is a very good MC bit.
It was odd but years ago I received the same artwork in some stuff that Ed Mishell drew. I mean identical. So I made some 8 1/2 x 11 copies to carry around and give to people as a give away (with my name on of course). Sid Lorraine also did a nice one I think was called Room in the House. A big mansion turns into an outhouse (sorry, that's something you have to explaination to the youngsters and city folks)

Richard Hughes,
Thanks, I will pass the info on to Dick Stoner. He did research on this before marketing it. He checked with Jay Marshall and some other knowledgeable magicians. Not much was offered. He did want to give permission and credit where due. He said the same thing you did, he got it in the mail years ago. Could not remember anything else. He knew it had great potential. I was in his office when he came back from the library with about 20 books for research for a patter routine. Gee, I always thought you just put things in a corner of your room for a year or so, until a brilliant routine came to you, per Terry Seabrooke. I never thought you would do reasearch for ideas. What a novel approach to stimulate the mind. I don't know if you have ever met Dick Stoner, but I am sure he would have appreciated the information. I do believe you were at the same conventions as Dick where he displayed as well, he was kind enough to have me come along and help him do the dealer thing. I do remember speaking to you about your Fountain Production once, when it first came out. Something about an ex-partner of yours copying your creations. Anyway.... Yes, it is a great M.C. bit, but if you do a talking act like Dick, it fits very well in a banquet show, between larger illusions, or when spectators are returning to their seats, from helping out on the previous trick. I have witnessed this in action before live audiences. It is a 'Killer' laugh routine. Ya, Ya, not mind blowing mystery, but mind blowing laughter! The prop is the best available. If you cannot deliver comedy patter, or are not a joke teller. Then get this for your show. It will make your audience laugh. |

Just to remind everyone how old this is... I remember doing it as a joke in grade school. That was at least 25 years ago.

This is a great comedy bit, and gets great laughs! Use it, you won't be sorry. wmhegbli, if you talk with Dick Stoner, PLEASE ask him to consider making up Sid Loraine's "Magic Manor" into the routine like he did with "Grave Mistake!" Magic Manor is the one where it goes from a big mansion to a little outhouse, and I would love to get that one blown up onto Tyvek paper like Grave Mistake. Great stuff!

Is there anyone who can tell me where to find this Sid Loraine's "Magic Manor". I love doing "Grave Mistake" and "Magic 4 food"

I've posted a thread about this about 3 weeks ago almost no one replied and I guy said he also didn't find it funny,
now this thread comes out of nowhere and gets a lot of replies anyway the patter that comes with it just isn't funny, I've tried it, I've had other people look at it and it's hard to make it funny, if you guys all think it's that grand then please what patter are you using? |

I think Magic Manor was sold by Magic Inc. It came with a second bonus fold where the picture of the top hat turns into a rabbit.

I tell the audience that an insurance-guy has seen me do the act and has asked me if I have any insurance if something goes wrong. At the right price he can offer me a nice place to lay down my bones and rest in eternity... But as I have no "contracts" I keep telling him what he show's me costs to much. So eventually he comes up with the right thing for me, the trashcan! That's how I use it. and... it never let me down... everybody has a good laugh with it... If it doesn't get the laughs for you, it is not brought at the right time, in the right place, or... in the right way... so, simple, don't do it then... Just my 2 cents |
