Guys & gals! This is a close-up miracle! Real magic!
It's great for close-up, especially in a bar.
This is in my opinion, the best cap thru bottle effect...bar none!!
Can you imagine...emptying a bootle of beer. The spectator hands you a bottle cap, which you place onto the bottle, on top of the label and hand the bottle to the spectator to hold horizontally by both ends of the bottle. You then slap the bottle cap and visibly the cap penetrates the bottle which you hand out for complete examination! Your hands are empty and they can keep the bottle as a souvenir!! WoW!!!
Buy this effect. You will not be sorry! I give it five stars out of ****.
You can check it out at: http://www.mallofmagic.com

I have Jazz fusion. It takes some work to get it going good and smooth, but as with all of Mike's stuff, it is a little masterpiece.

Mike don't make no junk! His name on an effect almost automatically guarantees high quality.

I think he deserves a lot more recognition than he normally gets. Mike's the best, IMHO. His stuff is top o' the line.

BTW, hasn't VIP been around for a good while now?

I have darly's Cap in bottle and never really used it . You have to get rid of the gimmick at the end I found it a bit awkward in the handling. I like the Idea with V.I.P. the spectator holds the bottle & the penetration is done on the side WOW sounds pretty good !! I will check it out Thanks for the Information.

Lewis,

Is Jazz Fusion another Mike Powers effect? Is it a cap in bottle effect by someone other than Mike Powers that you just mentioned for comparision? Or, is it just another name for Mike Power's VIP?

You have me curious about Jazz Fusion since the topic heading referenced Mike Power's VIP cap-in-bottle penetration and your post mentioned nothing about JazzFusion other than its name and $15.00 price. The only "Jazz Fusion" reference I can seem to find is a card effect mentioned on John Guastaferro "Brainstorm" DVD.

Thanks for the info.

Hi All,

My cap in bottle is called V.I.P. which stands for Visual Impossible Penetration. Unlike the Rey Ben item sold by Daryl, you can use virtually any bottle. The Daryl item needs a Michelob bottle (or similar) that has a label that completely covers the neck. It also uses a brown bottle.

Jazz Fusion is very cool card item by Dave Neighbors. I own the rights to the trick and at this time, I believe that I am the only one selling it. I will probably release it to the wholesalers in the near future. There is a video of Jazz Fusion on the site. It seems like a fairly mundane version of Jazz Aces until the end. I don't think you will see the mind bending ending coming....

Magic cariso I received the V.I.P today played around with it at the bar , Yes it's a GREAT EFFECT ! when I used my M ******* R*** Now this Is a Miracle . Fingres spread wide apart and Tap the cap goes right through the bottle. This is the only way I will be performing the effect much easier to perform. This trick is excellent !!!!

I came up with an idea for the clean-up!...actually,your hands can be shown absolutely empty,
after you slap the cap through the bottle. Your left absolutely clean!!
Attach a small n.. m....t to a small clamp at the end of a r..l vanisher. The clamp is attached to your ring of your right hand! Now the clean-up is automatic!!
Hope you guys like it!!

The ad suggests you're left with totally clean, truly empty hands. Is this not the case?

Hi Platt,
Your clean after doing something! With my idea, you are left absolutely clean, showing your hands immediately after the penetration!

There's a simple clean up "move" that leaves your hands completely empty. There is no "tell" and it it happens just when the cap has penetrated so the misdirection is HUGE. (You don't have to put your hands in your pockets. There's no toppit. It's a very obvious and simple way to clean up.)

I purchased this from Mike a few years ago in St' Louis at The Midwest Magic Jubilee....I was so blown away by the demo it was the first purchase at the convention...I usually wait til later in the convention to make a purchase. I couldn't wait and the method is brilliant and yes clean hands NO Topit, No Sleeving...Just pure magic!

Utilising my idea, you can vanish a coin, or change a coin. I wear a sleeveless T-shirt and a Guayabera shirt over the T-shirt with the r..l attached almost to the back of my pants.

With my own handling, I have made this effect even better, and turned it into a masterpiece. I did it for a friend today, and it floored him! he looked at the bottle, and cap inside for almost an hour. he could not get it out, and was trying to reach in to pry it out with his finger, but it was not budging. we both bought sodas at the store, and I did it minutes later with his bottle and cap. it is one of those effects that just make you feel unbelieveable after you do it successfully if you know what I mean. I love all magic I do, but some effects are very very gratifying when done correctly. them being able to keep it is priceless.
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

Hi Mike,
Recently, I purchased V.I.P. directly from you. It looks terrific. I have been practicing it with success, but I am a visual person and would love to see a demo video of it. I noticed there isn't one available on your page. Do you have a demo video of V.I.P. or know where on the web I can see one?
Thanks.

I am so intriguiged by this.. I seen above it said it could be done with a water bottle, but what about like soft drink bottles? Like Mellow Yellow, etc. Are there restrictions to these?

Hi Richard,

I definitely need to post a video of VIP. My camera guy is out of town at the moment. When he gets back, I'm going to have him video me doing it in a bar. Hopefully I'll post something before I leave for Europe at the end of the month.

Thanks for the "push!"

To answer Mr. Watkins: VIP needs to be done with a bottle having a metal cap. I have a method for doing the effect using a plastic cap but I prefer the beer bottle. I also have a method for putting a half dollar into a plastic bottle that can be given away (if you don't mind losing fifty cents). It looks very similar to VIP in that the coin is balanced on the side of a bottle held horizontally by a spec.

Is the plastic cap penetration just as visual as a metal cap? I am wondering this because I will be doing this at school and I will only have plastic caps around me?

Zack,
I returned your PM message...........get this trick because it rocks! Also, for anyone else reading this string...go check out the video clip performance of Mike Powers "Boston Massacare". Got mine in the mail along with VIP a few days ago and it too is a miracle to behold.

Can this effect be performed with a borrowed bottle? By that, I mean could someone just pass you up a bottle from which they just got done drinking the contents and you can immediately perform the effect? Or, on the same note, could a participant choose "one of three bottles on a table", carefully examine his selection and THEN hand it to you for you to perform the effect?

Thanks for the info.

Mike

Mike,
You cannot perform this with a borrowed bottle because the effect requires about a 2 minute set-up. If you don't tell the audience what you're attempting to do and just do it (not only will you floor them because they don't know what to expect) they will be less likely to challenge you with a truly borrowed bottle. But you shouldn't have to worry about that because no one should chase you with this. I posed the effect as a bar gag/sobriety test when asking a spec to see how well they could balance a beer cap on a rounded surface after having a few beers...all eyes are on the spec and then I lightly tap the cap and shazam it's in the bottle.
You can you have a spec choose one of 3 bottles but you would need to use equivoque to force one bottle...as for carefully examining his selection then performing the effect.....if only it could be, but it sounds like we're moving towards the "Too Perfect Theory" here. Trust me the effect rocks and will knock their socks off. If the effect had the properties to meet the questions you were asking....it would sell for far more than $15.00 (not to mention I'd like to shake the hand of the man that works those conditions out) and it's a heavy hitter for the price!!! You won't regret owning it.

Best,
Brian
