Hello Mr. McComb. A great pleasure have you here.
I Always do the same question to all the guests, because I would like to know many different opinions. (and maybe all other Café Members are sick of my over and over asked question). I would like to know your opinion about using stooges. Not the kind of stooge who is a normal member of the audience, I mean, the member of the magician's team who sit in the audience as if he is a "normal" one. I totally disagree about asking a spectactor to help you in an effect as your stooge, but I don't mind using a member of MY team and sitting him in the audience in order to help me. Thanks! Alejandro. |

Years ago I worked following a magician who did the "Shirt Pull" on a ship. When I joined for a few days they didn'ty know who I was. A member of his audience was waiting at the elevator with four or five passengers who he was taking down to his cabin to show how the shirt was put on
I often use an 'instant" stooge by cueing a person onstage BUT NEVER beforehand unless it's a TV show or a situation where I am tied to spot-on time. I recall a time in London when, before the show, a man sidled up to me and said "I was wondering if I could be of any help. I was a great help to"......" when he did this show last year. If folks are congratulating you on say the Lonking Finger Rings and the stooge is nearby he's going to think less of you and maybe even get folks aside and say "If it wasn't for me that ring trick wouldn't have worked" Let's face it everyone has an ego somewhere.
