I recently read about the milk build shuffle in a gambling type routine found in Buckley's Card Control.
I am having a tough time finding a good position for the deck to be in, in order to make the shuffle look good and work as it should. My guess is that it is most effective if done in a deliberate and fast manner to both aid in executing it, and to disguise what the moves really do. Does anyone do this shuffle, or have advice about any ways of gripping the deck to make it work the best?

I use the shuffle a lot. The best descriptions I found for it were in "Scarne on Cards" (not the tricks books) and some Marlo items.
The deck is put into the left hand and kind of deep so the fingers can perform the 'milking' actions when required. This shuffle does not necessarily have to be done fast. Just consistent. Let me know if you need more. There is a movie of me performing the basic overhand shuffle used as a cull on my website.

Are you reffering to the Milk Shuffle, where one card is taken from the bottom, as well as the top?
Guy Hollingworth performs it in one of his videos called "Routines" There is also a description in his book "Drawing Room Deceptions" under his gambling demonstration. I cannot remember how detailed the explenation in the book is, and whether he gives notes on the position of the hands. Hope this is of some use... Owen |

Glenn Bishop is good at this shuffle, I'm sure he'll offer some wisdom at some point too!

Thank you scafidi7 I have worked on the move a lot.
I learned the shuffle from Jimmy Cards Molinari and I recommend that if you are interested in it. Learn Expert at the card table... Revelations... Learn Marlo's lessin out culls and stacks... (In lets see the deck). And get Jimmy's DVD... He has his methods on it and I have been usieng them for almost 20 years... Then after that my DVD has some ideas as well. Check out Jimmy's DVD as he is the master of the milk build... For magic...

There is a good nine card selection routine in one the Martin Nash Trilogy books utilizing the "milk build".
