Hey wasup; I was wondering if someone could describe to me what the Top Shot is, and if someone could make a video of them doing it.
I got instructions on how to do them from the "Nursery Rhymes" lecture notes, but they are very vague...

I've not heard of the Top Shot, the closest thing that I'm aware of to that name is the Hot Shot Cut, which features on Video 8 of Daryls Card Encyclopaedia, if this is what you're after then I hope this helps, otherwise, disregard this message and good luck in your search.

The Top shot is a move by Lennart Green which allows you to make the top card of the deck shoot through the air incredibly fast. You can get it to look like a face up card just appears at your finger tips. Takes a bit of practice though.
Lennart explains it on his Green magic video series, volume one. Hope this helps |

miztyz: yes Lennart "explains" it in his vid.. I had to find a totally different source after watching the vid to gain an understanding of it and I still don't think I have it right. Green's vids are chock full of great stuff but the explanations are very hard to follow for some of the sleights and flourishes.
Check out http://www.geocities.com/mvvenrooij/master.html for what I think is a good explanation but it seems to be different than what Lennart does on the tapes. Look under little finger for the top shot. |

Agreed.
I did learn top shot from his video, but only from watching his hands very closely as his explanation consisted of "here is the grip, and then you shoot.. this is quite hard dont worry if it take you a while to master". Also he doesnt explain the Z-cuts very well. But this is due to the fact he's Swedish and trying to speak in English, must be hard for him. The videos are still excellent tho. |

Hey,
The top shot is a move by Lennart Green. It is described in vol. 1 of Green Magic. It can also be learned from Gaston Quietos video 'TWENTY.' Gaston uses the top shot for some very cool different applications such as a sandwich effect, torn and restored card, and a great production. If you are failiar with Ernie Earick's Katosaurus Toss, the top shot is something 'similar.' The Katosaurus uses wo hands and is done under cover, the top shot is done in one hand without any cover and much faster...but they are both still 'shooting/throwing' a card VERY fast! I use the top shot all the time. If you watch closely, you can also learn the top shot from the Buck Twins video 'Pasteboard Animations.' They use a variation of the top shot to do a great four ace production. If you already do the top shot, you may want to check out a slight addition to it that I made. While it may not be the most 'innovative' or creative thing, I have put in a fair ammount of work into the top shot, and the slight variation/addition to it. To learn it, go to: http://www.capcasino.com Then go to the 'LEARN' section, and click on: Doug Pace's Double Top Shot Reverse Production. While the move may not be original, there are several applications to it. I do not feel at liberty to speak of the applications at the moment, but maybe, sometime in the future (in a few years) you may learn all the variations to it...how and why? -Not ready to say But, here's one quick peek at one application for it: Its called 'Kingpin Production' you produce two deuces (using Double top Shot Reverse Production) and display the deuces face up, turn them over and give one a spin and it spins and changes into the four kings all in one action...so you show the dueces and they VISIBLY change to four kings. Its a neat idea and concept...no gaffs. The final display is that of Lee Asher's "Ambitous Explosion" or Brian Tudor's Awesome Blossom Production. ...enough said! Thanks. The reason the 'double top shot reverse production'is on my friends website is simply to keep a record as to who's it is and when it was put there. (While I do not claim originality in it, I have never seen it in print, and to the few who I have showed it to have never seen it...) -The double top shot reverse production isnt a top shot, simply a move that uses Lennart Green's wonderful Top shot Thanks again. Keep on top-shoting! Best wishes, Sincerely, Doug-The Magic Sponge |
