I performed my 1st Ckildren's Show this past weekend, and it went great. I want to thank everyone for their tips/suggestions over the past few weeks as I was preparing. My "set sheet" was...
1) Miser's Dream (they loved it!) 2) 20th Century Socks (like the silk routine, but my sock gets "stolen") 3) Hippity Hop Rabbits (the older kids were too polite and didn't point out what I was doing...thank goodness some of the adults did) 4)Milk Pitcher Variant (poured blue water into bag that was decorated like a cloud...had volunteers use noise-makers to produce rain and thunders sounds, bag was popped and out came blue confetti - a BIG hit) 5)Dan Harlan's Starcle (got to have little aspiring actress come up and be a ham) 6)Card in Balloon (with "helper" using breakaway wand)) 7)Stratosphere (told story about having to run to grocery store over and over, because tomato kept getting squished at the bottom of the bag) 8)Candy Man (kids yells out colors and throw the into my empty bag, lollipops appear) Things went very smoothly. I had a blast!
What is the color of magic?

I just randomly discovered this post. No one replied, but it's content is great. Is Dr Mage still out there, sounds like he should be getting on great by now?

Congradulations. Beware of 4 year old boys, or for that matter any party with an all boy audience.

I like to add to this, I just did my first "real" show where I did my pirate themed show. It was for a girl who just turned 9, but the crowd was mixed with boys and girls (approx 15). A lot of people always ask me, does this show fit well with girls, and this was a good test...I got good feed back from all the kids and parents. Not only that, I learned a few things myself...
Funny thing though, I had this fantasy of doing a quick 15 minute magic show, and finish up with 15 minutes of balloons (depending on the number of kids of course). The idea was to do 30 minute show and be out of there to do a couple of shows in one day....but... My 15 minute magic show ended up being 30-45 minutes with all the bits of business and audience interaction. It was great. I hope to start landing some more shows in the near future...the experience is just priceless. Matter fact, I was thinking of listing my show with one of those party places that offers shows like mine...the place actually mentions that your show must be 20 minutes....but any way...just curious what you think of that? It feels good to get the routine out of the house and into someone elses house

Contratulations DR, looks like you're on the way.
Be careful when making candy appear - some parents don't appreciate it. I always ask in advance if the kids can have any edible items that appear in the show. Jim |

I always enjoy seeing first time show posts!
It reminds everyone of the initial wonder of being an entertainer. Congratulations, Mage!
