I was wondering if anyone had a method of switching a non-gimmicked fan for a gimmicked fan (Tommy Wonder's Diminishing Fan)? I'm looking to be doing some card stuff, then afterwards switch it for the gimmick.
What I was thinking I could use the normal deck, fan it in my left hand. Then as I go to get a magic wand out of my brief case (which is set down on the table) I switch the fans as my left hand casually goes down behind the open breif case while I look for the fan. Then, I just go through with the normal diminishing fan. Or perhaps I could do the same when I go to put something away. I think that this would work but I don't like the fact that I am left with a magic wand out (which could clutter the handling of the gimmick). I also don't like that I would have to go to the breifcase at all, I would rather not have to go towards anything at all. Does anyone have any other ideas? |

You've got a tough one there, Ranalli! My concern would be that the original fan may not look close enough to the gaffed fan. The spread would have to be pretty close, but I wouldn't worry about the pips showing or anything. Depends if you keep the fan tilted downward.
As far as going for the wand, you could always hand it to somebody so "they can do the magic". Or maybe you're putting away the card box? Oh! Maybe have the gaff clipped inside you coat and then use the hand with fan (also holding the card box with your pinky finger) go into the jacket, dump the real fan and grab the gaff. Hmm... I don't know. It's late. |
