I am looking for a nice quality but not overly expensive silk to cane effect? Also I would prefer a metal one b/c I hear those are better.

Do you mean an appearing cane? If so get a fantasio for $22 from http://www.themagicwarehouse.com. I only have a problem with durability and sound but music can fix the sound problem. And they are cheap enough to get one every year or so.
