Any info on this effect by Duane Laflin? What I want to do is put three silks into a newspaper poke them into it and rip the newspaper showing that they have vanished. Will this enable me to do so?

Yes you can, but check the sizes of your silks.

Duane has several methods for silk vanishes as can be seen in his silk videos. With multiple polks (or TT) you can keep unloading/loading your gimmicks each time you go to get another silk. You can appear to be stuffing tons of silk "stuff" (please give these silken items a name other than 'silks')

I also believe Karrell Fox wrote some stuff up on it.

I was at the MAES convention last week and saw Duane perform his routine w/ silk poke in lecture. I bought one!

I have Duane's Silk poke. You certainly can use it with a newspaper. I roll a 8.5 x 11 sheet of construction paper, do a blendo, and then tear the paper up. Very effective.

I would never use newspaper as it can dirty up the silks.
Artist's pads are also a good source of paper for dye tube and poke routines.

I used to get these Silk Pokes, which are made in Japan from Mak Magic, now they are no longer available.

My daughter started doing Kid's BD partys on her own. Since we wanted to keep the methods simple and as moveless as possable we went w/ the silk poke and blendo that Duane Laflin sells. Alexa has her tube rolled up and gaffed before she starts. She finishes clean after ditching the wand that comes w/it and tearing open the tube. (You must use that wand unless you are very handy and make up a special wand yourself )
Because she works w/younger kids Alexa uses a patter about different people coming together and making something larger than themselves. (patter idea copyright 2004 )

Glad your daughter is working. But the patter idea is not new. Old as the hills.

Richard,
I am not at all suprised to hear that. Alexa is actually using a takeoff on my mis-made flag patter. Although I cannot recall ever hearing anyone use that patter line with the routine, I am sure that I am not the first to think of it. It seems such a natural or logical connection for a story line. Thats why I used all the giggles and rolling eyes smileys. Bruce
