I am looking to include the lemon game in my school assemblies this year and planning to change the prize cards to different social perils (Drugs, etc) that one can waste their money on. I'm not sure how to get to the lemon, or fruit in general.
(I have redone my prize bag with different types of fruit to make the selection seem more random) Does anyone have any ideas on how I could explain the lemon/orange as the chosen card instead of the others? I've been racking my brain and would appreciate any suggestions. |

As a chaser to their tequila. No, wait that would not work for you, let’s see. . . .
Have a basket of fruit and wholesome foods. Talk about these being alternatives to drugs and unhealthy foods like, candy bars, Twinkies, and Mountain Dew. Wait, strike Mountain Dew, I survive on that. Then as you go through the cards the first time you can show a candy bar or some unhealthy item and say…. Hey how did that get in there. I would never have one of those. (Like a candy bar.) Then when get rid of the bad card, say put it behind something, a candy bar falls to the floor. (Embarrassed look and lots of laughs later you put the candy bar away and continue) Now, when the kid picks the lemon it looks like a natural selection of items that you have displayed. (Say a granola bar, grapes, a bowl of grape nuts, etc.) Then an appropriate line like: Be happy you didn’t get the Prunes. He with some effort you could start your own business (lemonade stand) Well what a sour choice. I would have puckered another card…er picked. Sergeant |
