I use whichever card is next in my scratch deck.

When I force a card, it is the card that needs to be forced. In one of my routines, it must be the 3 of diamonds. If I don't need a specific card, I rarely force; prefer to control.

I agree with Mr. Jones I also try to avoid the ace of spades and also the other aces since they look suspicius during the trick.
The only time that I would force the ace of spades is if I have the trick with the insurance policy. |

It depend's on how you want to force it.
If it's a force by sleight I prefer Jack of spades. If it's a force by words 3 or 7 of hearts. Sometimes they say these two cards alone. |

Well. . .skeleton subject or not, I prefer the two of hearts. Not only for signature visibility when needed, but it justs contrasts so well from a black court card when performing anything from a color change, to a transposition, to a simple change.
I think I'll write a book on the entire, voluminous concept, and title it "Fastidious Forcing Fodder." Cheers in alliteration, --Ron |

If it was a torn and restored trick I would force a face card to make it visual, but if I was to get someone to sign it I would force the 2 of clubs. Other then that I force 7 of spades, but I don't really care, because it is suppose to be a free choice (at least in their mind).

I agree with Sid,
I think the card forced depends on the trick. Aces and faces are generly looked at with with a fishy eye. Spot cards tend to draw less heat. But I always try to stay away from the Ace o Spades as it is the one every on picks when asked to think of a card. Face cards are great for the torn and restored and also if you do the Tatooed card thing. Also I like the faces when using Jumbo cards as then you are most likly on stage and the rules are a bit different there. Thing are a bit more forgiving when preformed form the percenim of a stage. Just my humble opinion. |

I like the four of hearts as it is an ordinary card and has a lot of white space on it.

If you don't force 9d once in a while you can use it as a slick card.

I don't agree that you shouldn't force faces. A random face card (say a jack, or a king) shouldn't appear weird to a spectator. Plus patter with faces is always better because you can add personality to them.

I always force the card that is on the bottom of the deck.

If only one spectator is going to remember the card, and doesn't play cards much, I prefer to work with a low number card, 2 to 6, in a red suit. Some people don't know what an ace is called and don't know the names of the black suits. The court cards are sometimes hard to distinguish, at a distance.
If the cardpicker plays cards, and other card players are helping him to remember the card, you can use any card. Sometimes, I'll just have the spectator hold onto the card, until I reveal it, if it's awkward to have an out. |
