Anyone seen this Rope Video?
Any good? Spectator Involvement? Other reviews? I've heard nothing so far.

I believe this is the Richard Sanders routine. If it is the routine I saw him do this past year in his lecture, it is very good.

I am like Kenardo. Did not see the video, but I saw Richard performing his rope routine and it is GREAT. Very surrealistic!

Fantastic rope effect by Richard Sanders. It is essentially his prior handling of "Three Ropes And a Baby" but with updated handling ideas and added variations. This is excellent.

I had his original booklet of 3 Ropes and a baby. Practised it for a while but somehow I didn't quite like it. Bought the DVD Fiber Optics and it made me search high and low for the booklet again just to compare what was added. The handling seems so magical! I guess this is the real advantage of seeing the performance rather than reading and trying to make sense of what is written.

I think especially with Rope tricks, it is very helpful to see a performance...it really gives you a better perspective on how magical the effect may be. Also, with rope handling, a video helps tremendously in learning the various moves, sequences and finger positions.

How is Fiber Optics different from Daryl's rope routine?

Fibre Optics is basically an updated rope routine by Richard Sander's 3 Ropes and a Baby. It's very much more visual than ever before.

Enjoy it! It's going straight into my repertoire once I can get it down. That should be in about 2-3 months including patter

I checked it out. Did not go thru all the explainations but it is quite good. Some of the moves are real eye-poppers.
I do not think it's a routine that I would do but many of the moves could be incorporated into any rope routine. Who knows. I might give it a shot. I think a real cut and restored rope routine with real scissors and real bits of rope cut and falling to the ground is a requirement of mine (at least today). I usually do not go for "encyclopedia of " type videos/dvds. I'm not saying this is one but you can think of it that way. There are a ton of cool moves that are visually stunning. Plus a great routine that uses them. The only thing I didn't like about it was a lack of spectator involvement. If you're just standing there pattering away doing the routine, I think people will get disinterested after a while no matter how good it is. Spectator involvement keeps people's interest. Also, if it's just you doing the routine and it's patter heavy, you might have a tendency to just go thru the motions and the patter and not interact with your audience. Putting up a wall, in a way. Other than that, it's some real eye popping rope magic.

I think this routine is visual enough to catch the spectators attention.

Frank, Hello, There's a way to do a rope routine without doing "Real" cuts or "Real" sissors and still have it look like you cut the rope and have real bits of rope fall to the floor. My good friend John Swomley published his way of doing this in one of the "Minoataur" mags the Dan H. and Marv L. put out. You can see David Williamson use this bit of John's on his "Dave 2" video during his ring and rope performance, it goes by quick so you have to watch for it. Best Joe

I have to get those Dave videos.
One more note: fiber optics really is eye candy with a rope. not hard stuff either.

Pete Biro kindly gave a method for getting into prof nightmare directly and cutting ropes in front of specs - do a search on rope nemo biro - this I think gives 3 ropes and a baby more dramatic start/finish.
catch you later

It is an excellent routine. just takes time to put it all together. not difficult to do just well constructed routine that will take some time to master.

Paul Green does an amazing rope routine on his In the Trenches DVD. It starts with a multi phase cut and restored where little pieces go flying everywhere and then he heads straight into a beautiful professor's nightmare routine but cutting the rope into three pieces. One of my favorite rope routines of all time and a real fooler in Paul's hands.
