Well I thought that I had bought a well made time piece, until it stopped working ! When I opened it up what a piece of rubbish. Unfortuantly I bought it from an ebay seller, even if I hadn't apparently they are only under warrenty for a month. Yeh they are really confident about their product!! I tried to fix mine and did so with some cardboard, fuse wire and superglue and it did work for a short amount of time. As we all know, we need something with 100 percent reliability, this isn't the item that I thought it would be.

Having had a Time Machine and Watch and Wear (one in the same really... don't you think Magic Makers!) I can safely say that Watch and Wear is a far superior build!

The workings are way more robust and reliable and the outer is the better of the two. Plus the money goes to the right people...Bazar DeMagia!!!

I have Masters Time Machine but I hate the reset. It cant be done in front of spec. How is it for W&W?

The reset is the same for both watches. I never opened it up, but interesting to hear that Watch and Wear is better made than the rip off Time Machine.

I didn't know that MTM is a ripoff. I just read about it somewhere in the forum before this. I would have bought W&W if I knew that. I'm sorry if any of you thinks that I support this kinda nonsense.

In answer to your post, I reset mine infront of the spectators all the time. I simply ask for the correct time as I have to reset my watch and then with the watch facing me I simply mime reseting the time, when the watch reaches the correct time I simply push the pin back in on the watch.I cover any large time lapses by chatting with my audience as I reset the watch.
I love the effect, I carry it on my wrist at all times and use it as my every day watch. The effect and reset are all in the way you perform them. I do this in all my close up sets and I do not lie when I say it KILLS EVERY TIME!!!
I will admit that I own the TIME MACHINE WATCH, I did not buy this because I new it was a rip off, I bought it because at the time I was only aware of one watch and presumed it to be the same thing. Although I do not endorse ripping off products in ANY WAY I do have to admit that I have owned mine for 2 years and use it every day and it still works with 100% accuracy. I replaced the leather strap with a two tone metal band that matches the watch.

Cheers

I love the effect no doubt about that. But I just don't quite like the reset. I mean how long does it take to twist a watch to the time you want anyway. Just my 2cents.
One day I was in the hospital doing my rounds (I'm a med student) and I was supposed to take a patient's heart rate. Without realising it my MTM does not have a second hand! It was so funny! I had to use my friends watch to count the seconds and the doctor was asking me what kind of analog watch does not have a secondhand. He was bugging me the whole time after that. So I did the effect to him and my other friends and they were floored!

Here is a nice little line that I use to describe the fact there is no second hand, it sounds cheesy but plays well.

I point to the watch and say "you will notice my watch has an hour hand and a minute hand but no second hand....that's because the watch is brand new!" Get it brand new, NOT SECOND HAND

Enjoy

I'm on my third watch. The first two broke, but the effect was sooooo good, I had to buy another! (I usually get about a year or so out of them.)

I also did not know that "time machine" was a knockoff. I would not have bought it. Now I FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!!!!!!

someone should post a list of ripped off effects on an "ethics" site so the community would know what they were buying.

Hi bsears,
You should have contacted Magic Makers for a replacement.
This is what I know to be a fact, from members at the Café, and from my own personal experience. Magic Makers backs up their merchandise. Anything that your unhappy with will be replaced ASP.

I should have stated that my watch is a Masters Time Machine, which looks a bit like a sports watch should but is a piece of cheap rubbish.

I wrote the line after using the watch many times in performance so you are more than welcome to use it....thanks for asking! You are getting it straight from the horses mouth & will be only the 2nd guy in the world using the gag. If anyone asks credit it to me dude and we are even

I work this effect all the time so if you want any other pointers let me know. By the way the thing I said about reseting the time works, just have confidence in it. The audience does not know what you are doing, to them it simply looks like you are reseting your watch. If it takes alittle longer to set then simply chat with your audience for a little longer, don't forget if you are getting paid for the gig then you are counting down extra minutes off your gig and it looks like you are still performing to everyone else in the room ;-)

Thanks for allowing me to use the line. Credit goes to you!

About the reset, all this while that is how I did it. It's just that I didn't quite like it. I don't perform this during gigs because I'm always almost surrounded. This watch is strictly (for me) in a "show me a trick now"-kinda moments. Actually I do have a few questions about the effect on how I could improve it even more. I'll pm you. Thanks Matt J.

I should clarify that the timepieces (both brands) that stopped working on me were not a result of defective craftsmanship. They simply wore out. My constant wear and use over a year caused the tringer mechanism(s) to fail. Unfortunatly, warranty or a return was not an option for me after a year of use.

As far as the gags and puns go, there are some good ones. I try NOT to use them with this effect (difficult sometimes because they can come so easy). I play this effect pretty serious. I'm saying this not to criticize anyone, just to offer a different approach. In my experience, patter effects the mood and the way the spectators respond.

I understand that a newer version of the Timetrix watch will finally be out in February, and that it will be a working watch.
Let's hope Bazar de Magia prices it reasonably! (here come the "But-I-want-to-keep-this-effect-priced high-enough-so-not-many-people-get-their-hands-on-it!" posts . . . )

Hi bsears,

You know I play it pretty serious too but I think a few one liners can lighten up the moment just enough, too serious? would not work for me....people want to have fun, although if it works for you GREAT!

Cheers

I've had the Masters Time Machine for about a month now and it works like a charm.

Also - I have started keeping the watch in my closeup case and not wearing it out all the time in an effort to reduce the "mileage" on it.

(I only wear it during gigs)

I always wear it....why? Well it's one of those awsome effects that you can do on the spur of the moment when someone asks you to prove your magic powers, wearing the watch all the time and using it as your everyday timepiece somehow gives more validity to the performance. I think it's because I am so used to the watch as an everyday object as opposed to a piece of magical apparatus that this comfort level then transcends into the performance and the watch does not come off as the odd ball.....

If the watch broke I would buy a new one, it's that good as far as I am concerned. I look at it like this, I am a professional, these are the tools of my trade and they are all tax right off's....that means the tax man gets to buy me a new watch, can't be a bad deal right

Cool link, but I think a watch which you can set down on the table would be more impressive than one which you have to hold in your hand.

George tells me there will be two versions. The one I've been playing with is not like my original Perfect Time, which is placed on the table.

As for holding it in your hand, you are free to put the thing down...you know, after a certain amount of time. This is no different than the other watches currently on the market. So far as I am aware, the only watch you can reliably leave on the table the entire time is the original Perfect Time.

For anyone keeping track of this thread, I posted last week an in-depth comparison between Watch & Wear and The Time Machine -- including side by side pictures of both the faces and the insides of the watches:

I now have a replacement Master's Time Machine from Magic Makers with a lifetime guarentee. This one is better as the watch starts at an angle and ends up straight if you know what I mean.
I have a w & w and it needs a shake to get it going ! No the batteries don't need replacing.
