Yeah what I have learned is that you want the music to go up and down in sync with your actions, that's what you want and put instrumental music for the more "formal" shows and you can have words for the casual ones

It depends on your show. Obviously you are wanting it for stage. If you want to use songs with words, I find that it makes things better if the words have something to do with the trick. Ie. Sting - Shape of my heart, for cards. etc. It is better in my opinion to use instrumental though. Which type of instrumental depends once again on your show. For levitation and stuff, use light flowing music. For Dangerous, saw people in half stuff, etc. Use beaty music with an erie hint to it. Also try to pick music that your audience will enjoy. Eg. Teens and twenty somethings, Beaty Techno type music. Pensioners, more the folk music or classical type music. Also see the post done earlier about "What Music to use"
Hope this helps. Regards Wolflock

If you are looking to do comedy in your act, sometimes a nice contrast can provide good comical effect. For example, if your character isn't very refined, classical music could be used humorously etc.
Whether this is relevant to you, I'm not sure. amazingluke |

1492 Conquest of paradise. Good Music, in fact all of Vangelis music is good to use for shows.

I think that you can use many different style
Vangelis is good, but many magician use it. Myself, I use often Pink Floyd, Godspeed you black emperor and Max Richter. Devilix |

Asking 'what music should I use' is like going into a chinese restaurant and asking 'what should I order'. There's no correct answer.
Of course the music depends on your character, the material in your act (are you really going to do a graceful floating rose to metallica?). What sort of character do you play on stage? |
