HI everyone,
I am an avid reader, and I am always on the lookout for new books to read, would you mind sharing any good titles (fiction or not). What are your top 5 recommendations? I will start first, from the top of my head: -The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay (AWESOME!!!) -Tommo & Hawk by Bruce Courtnay (card cheating in there!) -The R.A. Salvatore "Dark Elf" serie -The World According to Garp by John Irving -The Ants by Bernard Weber -The Hunt for Red October and Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy -To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee -The Last of The Blue Water Hunters by Carlos Eyles -The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi -The Ninja by Eric Van Lustbader -The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemmingway -etc... That is more than 5, but who cares... your turn now! Ronnie Lemieux Montreal Canada

Might want to start the standard 'cannon' list and then spread out a bit. Have you read Neil Gaiman's Sandman? The Frank Herbert stories? The Borges stories? The Philip K. Dick stories? Lots of literature to explore once you get out of the magic shop.

George Orwell:
Animal Farm 1984 Ayn Rand: Atlas Shrugged The Fountainhead Anthem Anthony Burgess: A Clockwork Orange Various Author's. Mostly manuscripts: A Treasury Of Science (preferably the 2nd edition) This book has unabridged writings from many important thinkers from Plato to Robert Oppenheimer. Should be required reading in Schools. This book contains several papers written by Benjamin Franklin and anyone really interested in the real story of the "kite experiment" should read what Franklin himself had to say about it. Iven

I forgot this at my friend’s house I stayed at recently so I can't remember the entire title. But it's basically called "Classic Comedy". It's a book on old time comedy, Silent film stars and slapsticks. Things like that. Very informative and inspiring.
For instance. Did you know that Houdini was Buster Kenton’s god father and he's the one who gave him the stage name "buster"? It's a very inspiring book. Ron Jaxon |

The Tarzan and Mars Series by ERB.
The OZ books by Baum. (One of the Oz books was recently turned into a Magic prop thanks to freestyle Book test ). Any book by Daniel P. Mannix ie: "Memoirs Of A Sword Swallower" and "We Who Are About To Die." And the best book I EVER read, "Circus Of The Scars" by Jan T. Gregor.

Xmosis,
We both share an affinity for ERB's Barsoom. I just finished re-reading 'Chessmen of Mars'. I also enjoy Howard's Conan & Solomon Kane, Lovecraft, Bloch, Derleth, and urban hero-pulp reprints (Doc Savage, The Avenger, The Shadow, and my favorite...The Spider). Steve

Stephen King books. You've got to love them. The closest one to a movie the book got was Green Mile.
