Has anyone done a big illusion with a group of magicians before? How is the effect compared to a one man illusion?

Doug Henning was famous for doing magic for Magicians.
The one I like doing is the sword suspension. Then remove the third sword. What??? That's not how it is supposed to be done? The trick in doing magic for magicians is like doing magic for kids. Know what they expect, then give them a twist or something different in the expected outcome. Most magician saw the Zombie ball vanish and flowers appear. Doug Henning vanished the ball and made a bald eagle appear in it's place. This is the twist I'm referring to! Look at the expected outcome and change it by adding another illusion that works with it or creating a new and dramatically different ending. Requires Creative Thoughts!

I agree with DenDowhy 100%!! My family and I love to take standard illusions, tweak them just a little, and add a fantastic ending that nobody (especially the magicians) would expect. It's alot easier when you have four kids to work with, seeing that most magicians only have one assistant. We used to do a sub trunk routine, and in the end, another kid would appear in the trunk!
The Best magic should get your creative juices flowing so it's not a standard of magic. Classics of magic are great, but twists at the end make them even better! Justin |

I agree also... however. The best is even from the start magicians not knowing what your going to do. I like to try and keep magicians on their toes as much as entertaining laymen. I could describe the effects I have created that after I am done performing for magicians they ask... Where the **** did that idea come from? I don't wish to talk about them franky because they are my effects and putting them on an open board is uncool. Especally since they are not published or made for the mass market yet. I have newer plans that also somewhat start from the norm and have a twist. However I do perfer to catch people off guard from the start.
have a good day, Jason Steffen

I believe the question is for illusion performed by several magicians rather than just one. Picture Sigfried & Roy times three or such. Several magicians on stage at once.
That would have to be one big stage to house all those egos. |

Well done Tony - the first few posts don't answer the question at all!
The question looks like it means What if several magicians were on the stage and performed an illusion together - what would be the outcome? Or have I misunderstood the post?? |

That's what I meant.

Many, many years ago, the Super bowl half-time show was magic-themed (50's style). There were hundreds of people performing the broom suspension at one time. And a person disappeared and reappeared in a jukebox. Plus some other things I don't remember.

That sounds rather wacky - do you by chance have any photographic material, or know of any on line?

Lee,
No I do not. From some quick research it looks like it was most likely superbowl 23, "Be Bop Bamboozled" featuring South Florida-area dancers and performers & 3-D effects. So maybe after making sure it's the one, you could find or buy a copy somewhere (the network?). |

Thanks I have searched around without result - it just would have been a great picture!

Lee,
Trust me, pictures of that event were not great (what I saw). Camera work was not the best. Blair Marshall "ShaZzam!"
