I read a mention of a Magic Café Convention on another thread. Is there one? Where can I find details (location, dates, etc)?
Thanks! |

Muddy,
It's probably not going to happen anytime soon. There's a link to information up at the top of the page (Near the search, members, etc), but it hasn't been updated in about a year. Hopefully it will eventually happen, but don't get your hopes up. Shane Wiker |

I'd be interested to see how many UK people woiuld be interested in a convention over here.
I'm sure there are many professionals and interested others who would make it worth while. acmp<><

I would drive anywhere in the states to make it to such a convention. I hope it happens.

Wait!!! You need a hostess for the meet and greet...send me a ticket wherever it's held and I'll be there!! Ha Ha.
On a more serious note, whomever takes on this project it would be a huge undertaking and I'd wish them well. If no one steps up you might want to post at the Café if you are attending a convention and pick a designated meeting area to meet other Café members. Café members have met at SAM,IBM, FISM and other conventions by posting at the Café and picking out a time/ location to meet other members. Lots of friendships forged that way. You wouldn't get the same numbers than if you had a convention just for Café members but given all the countries involved..whew..huge amount of work. I'd love it if there was one but the workload for the organizer would be astounding I think. Chrystal |

I'd love to be there, Rik......but life is just too busy for me at the moment. I can't wait to hear all about it though.

If we were to have a convention, how cool would it be to have the members of the boards lecture? I mean think about it, in each section of forum, theres a few "elite" members, and wouldn't it be awesome if they could somehow get together and lecture on that specific area?!? The convention could be held over a few days and the schedule could have overlapping lectureres (SP?) and as members, we would just choose what interested us the most! I think it would really be a successful thing if someone up the ladder took hold of the idea of a Magic Café convention. I know many people on these boards would be willing to attend such an event. Also, you could alternate years, one year have it in America, the next in Europe, since those are the two countries that produce the most number of online members.
I know this seems whimsical, but I am actually suprised this hasn't already happened. It's almost as if every other magic group has a convention, and this is larger than a majority of them! Magic Café Convention could be the best one out there!
Think inside the box while everyone else is busy thinking outside of it.

A convention takes a ton of work. There are so many details that have to be handled. There is also an up front outlay of money.
It would be interesting though. I'm wondering now. I wonder if I could help. |

How much would people be willing to pay to get into a Café Convention?

LOL. That question reminds me of an old magicians joke.
"How many magic convention committee members does it take to screw in a light bulb? None, they're to busy screwing the magicians".. Seriously. They are usually fairly priced because of the great time you can have and you really can learn a lot while you are there. I for one would love to be a part of a Magic Café convention. It would be a great convention to lecture, perform of just hang out in. I hope it happens. Ron Jaxon |
