I was interested in possibly purchasing the Audience Dismembered illusion by Jim Steinmyer, and I was wondering if anyone has any info on it (performance conditions, size of volunteer, how it plays, etc).

Contact Bill Smith at 702-897-1224 since he is the builder for the Illusion. It is around 7 grand... Here is the URL for more info
http://www.magicventures.com/HTML/AudienceD.html My understanding it really doesn't matter of the size of the audience memeber...just that they are not a jolly green giant. You can turn this puppy around if you like....so the angles are good for how it plays I don't know. It would impress a lot of people cause you are cutting someone from the audience up...and it really all comes down to presenation. Michael

Size does matter : the best is to use a slim girl for this illusion.

I have this illusion and yes size does matter. It plays very well. It can be performed surrounded. The only down-side is that it is a heavy prop (it does not break down except for the sawing sign, head rest and foot rest. The quality of this prop is superb.

Sorry about the size guys...my misunderstanding then...I basically mention not to get a huge person...get some one that looks like they will fit the part.
Yes the prop is made very well. Bill does extremly nice work. Michael

So I'm wondering here....Michael - you assume you know the answer- which is wrong ( the size of the person used for Audience Dismember does matter - I have used this prop for 4 years, so trust me on this ( experience talking here) it DOES matter )) you post it.....replies come in and you offer your apologies and then continue to say that "Yes the prop is made very well. Bill does extremely nice work." - I am not saying Bill does not do nice work - I actually have several pieces from him and have him working on stuff now, he does exceptional work - my point is that you had no idea about the Audience Dismember requirements - and yet you go ahead and say that it is a well made prop when you obviously have not seen it - if you had, and had any experience performing it, you would have known about the size requirements - Again. It is really sad that this board is getting a bit flooded with useless and senseless posts. Why not share through experiences rather than make assumptions ? The end result will be that people will be more apt to helping you in the long run than be turned off by the fact that it seems all you want to do is post - Quality.....not quantity !

Hi, this is my first post on the Café and I am happy to use it to endorse A.D.
I have been using this prop for a few years now and it has never let me down. Great reactions for a great prop but the girl does need to be slim. I have a video on my site http://www.davidpenn.co.uk (go to the videos page and click on the 2nd film strip down if you would like to see it. Cheers guys David

Can anyone tell me if there are plans for Audience Dismembered, or even the basic concept, in any of Steinmeyer's books. Thanks.

The concept that makes the illusion work is a classic, found in several books. But you would never guess that it is being applied in this illusion. (Saying anymore would be exposure) It is not in any of Jim's books. Don't even think about trying to build this one yourself...Bill Smith has it down to a science and is in fact the only authorized builder.

I thought about building it myself 3 times and you can't stop me from thinking about it yet again! I crack myself up almost as much as those "don't even think about..." posts crack me up. Thanks for the laugh.
