There was a trick on tv here (Max Magic - Sky One) where the max asked his "victim" to write his hometown on a post-it. The post-it pad was never returned to max but he still managed to get it right. Can anyone tell me what the effect was called ?
I would be most grateful. |

Was the post-it stuck to something? A clipboard perhaps?
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

No it wasnt.
The post it was handed out to the spectator along with a pencil, and was told to write the place they were from on it. Once they had done this the spectator was told to put the post it in his pocket, then the magician started to lick the spectators shoe to see where he had come from (quite quirky I thought, but good). |

Cameron,
Don't fall foul of editing - this is a television programme. What actually happen and what is broadcasted to the viewer are two different things. Regards

Could always be pencil reading

This was done outside a train station I believe (maybe a bus station or dis-embarking area).
A confederate wouldn't have much trouble identifying where a group came from via discarded tickets or watching the vehicle they came off of or a long distance viewer could watch the writing and "Marconi" it to the performer... and it isn't to say that you see the misses...just some ideas.

Cheers guys, I did think it might have been tv editing.
He did it with the change in the pocket. As it was clearly edited as the notpad ended up on a table infront of him. TV is a great thing isn't it !!! Thanks again |

...I reckon it was just the plain old 'CT' - edited of course. The first-time around the trick was 'fluffed' and not even filmed, a couple more effects down the line and 'hey! Let's try the Post-It Note thing again...'
