I own a miniature strat-o-spheres effect, about 6-1/2 inches tall. It's not the Miracle Balls, but is made by a different manufacturer. The outer tube is covered with silver iridescent tape, with blue trim at the ends.
Anyway, here's my question. The extra b*** in the effect is held in place by a small piece of semi-rigid plastic that fits through a slit near the top of the outer tube. The amount of plastic that sits inside the tube can be adjusted. The plastic piece is usually strong enough to hold the extra b***, but then occasionally, after repeated uses, it will bend a bit too much and the b*** will fall past it. If that happens in the middle of a performance, as it has to me, it's very embarrassing. Afterwards, I'm able to adjust and bend the plastic to solve the problem, but I never know when it's going to happen again. Has anyone figured out a replacement to the plastic or another approach that solves this problem? It's a wonderful effect, so I'd really like to keep it in my show. Thanks! |

Try bending it before every public show so it functions with the greatest amount of tension to still work. If I recall, too much tension can cause another problem.

Thanks, Tom. That's been my general approach, but perhaps I just need to apply it more consistently.
