This email was just forwarded to me.

Sad to report that Mike Bornstein (Isaak Meyer "Mike" Bornstein) died today
January 20. He apparently was hit by a truck while crossing the street in
front
of his home. There are no funeral arrangements at this time. Bornstein was a
very popular nightclub performer in the 1940s where he performed a
manipulative
act using the stage name "Kolma"; He is best known today as the inventor of
many
routines using paper money. --- Meir Yedid

Um....

I'm still dealing with the loss of the guy. He was one of the FEW reamining members of a generation of magicians that is all but gone in NYC.

We still have a few. And some of us remember the few we got to meet over the years.

* oh, Mike's tricks were sensible and they worked. He was not a rocket scientist but a jewler with good common sense.

I still have the 'Time Flies' pocket watch I bought from Mike over 20 years ago...
still flying away merrily. A simple gag, nicely produced, and with a thousand uses... never fails to raise a smile. My condolences to his family and friends.
